Hi Iago
Another quick response. The 1861 for Tynwain that you looked up is correct. Thomas and Selina (Celina) had 4 children that I am aware of. Firstly Jennet (Born 1857) - this would be who you read as Jane - William (Born 1859) Emily (she died young, I am awaiting her death certificate) and Thomas Cynog born 4/5/1863. I have a lot of info on him, including his obituary. He married Sarah Catherine Powell, but I digress here, as I am trying to establish the history of Selina.
Thomas Cynog was born at Tynwain Merthy Cynog. The Tynwain clear on his birth certificate. It states his father as Thomas Davies, farmer, Tynwain Merthyr Cynog, and his mother Selina Magdalen Williams.
In 1911 Thomas Davies who was born in 1831 (don't have birth date) at Llanfechan is living at Bailyhelig Brecon, with his son, the above mentioned William.
So, my interest at this point is really the history and family of Selina Magdalen Williams. I am just trying to prove that the Selina aged 9 in the 1841 census 'Division of Yacrifawr (?) Parish of Merthyr Cynog (Ref HO107/1368/12) is the one who married Thomas Davies. I am almost 100% positive that Tynwain Yscifawr is correct.
There is nothing quite like local knowledge in sorting these things out.
The 1925 death of Thomas Davies aged 95, is what pulled me into Rootsweb in the first instance, as it could have taken me forever to discover this information. I have read through previous postings, and the only relevance I could find to my research was the headstones and burial place of Selina and Thomas.
Kind regards
