Hello,

I am wondering if the 1863 Thoms covers Rathmines a Dublin suburb.

I am looking for Gray family or Nolan family on Belgrave Rd.

Regards,

Terry

Wicklow / Nolan/Gray Families
« on: Wednesday 03 February 10 01:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

Looking for anyone connected to the families of Nolan or Gray.

The Nolan family was Church of Ireland and lived in Wicklow Town. The patriarch was William ( 1755- 1830, early form of name was Nowlan). He had several children, William, James, Andrew, Henry, Elizabeth and Richard. Several were doctors and businessmen.  I have accounted for most of Andrew and Richard's family.

Richard married Christiana Gray from Upper Leabeg, Co. Wicklow. Her father was John and mother Mabella. Her brother Joseph was listed in Griffiths as head of house, sisters Arabella and Sophia. Gray is a very uncommon name for Wicklow.

So far over the years I seem to be the only family member interested in this branch.

Wicklow / Sea View House
« on: Wednesday 09 September 09 16:22 BST (UK)  »
J. M. Flannery posted a partial an OS map of Wicklow 1895 showing Sea View House in Wicklow. I am very interested in this map as Sea View House was family property for many years. Are there any other maps of Wicklow out there.

On new maps Wooden Bridge Row does not appear to exist any more. In Griffiths of Wicklow it also shows Richard Nolan also owned all the houses on Wooden Bridge Rd as well as others. He was a partner in Perrin & Nolan corn factors and coal dealers. The Nolan family also had Doctors William and Andrew in Wicklow. Over the years I appear to be the only descendant interested in this family.

Richard married Christiana Gray (about 1840) daughter of John Gray of Upper Leabeg.

I am new to this site and am wondering how to contact  J.M.Flannery about the map.

Wicklow / Re: Halpin family of Wicklow

O.S. Map sheet xxv 77  2 (1895) showing Leitrim place other side of the river, Bachelor's Walk; Bridge Street, with The Bridge Hotel on the corner no 6.  I think I referred to no 7 & 8 Church Street, from G.P.V; and Sea View House, on Church Hill, just in the picture on bottom of the map, on Church Hill. The "Smoothing Iron" local name for the triangler plot in Fitzwilliam's square, where Halpin's memorial is situated, just facing what was once the Green Tree Hotel. Hope I have mastered this attachment thing at last! Have to send it in 2 lots.

Hello, I am quite interested in the map showing Sea View House as it was in my family from the 1860's till sometime in the 1900's. The family name is Nolan and is well documented in Wicklow. Do you have any more information on this property or how would I go about finding it?
Regards,

Terry
