Antrim / Re: schools in the Braid?
« on: Tuesday 14 October 14 12:34 BST (UK)  »
Since my original post I found on Scotland's People on the 1911 Census that the family were living in Broxburn near Edinburgh at that time, when my mother was 3. My mother's name on the 1911 Census is given as Isabella Montford Robinson, known as Bella. .  I think that some time after that some members of the family moved back to Antrim.  I remember my aunt talking about the Model school they went to.

Hello,

Is your friend a relative of mine I wonder and how closely is she descended from Margaret b.1905?  Also, under your name on RootsChat is
'Census information Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk'.  Are you connected to national archives?  I would like to know a bit more before I give out any detailed information about people who are still living, but I would like to help if I can.  That was my Auntie Margaret who was born in 1905; she had two sons known as Jimmy and Jackie, both deceased as far as I know. I keep in touch with and visited my late Uncle James Robinson's family a year or two ago. I also know of my late Auntie Mary, and Wilma's (Wilhelmina) relatives but am not in touch. My Auntie Sadie (Sarah) is also deceased and had no children. Just remind me where you saw the post with details about the childrens' home/relatives etc. I only know of the siblings after they married and had children, but not the interim or when their mother left.  I know they were still all living together in 1911 in Broxburn from the Census. My late mother (Isa)bella used to speak a lot about Northern Ireland as well as Broxburn so I wonder if the younger ones went back to there. Possibly their mother married again and it is under that name her death was recorded.  I have drawn a blank so far there too.

On the 1911 census of Ireland list of streets in the area, there is only Grosvenor Place, Road and Square, as I'm sure you've seen.

There is "no image" for the one on familysearch.org and I am going to order the one from Scotland's People.  How would I order a copy of the Ballymena one that familysearch quotes?

Thank you for your suggestion.  I omitted to mention that she left the family and lived until 1961 we think.  The younger children went to a home and the older ones to relatives for a time, returning to live with their father later on. Could a baby be registered in two countries, Ireland and Scotland?

Antrim / Sarah Robinson Birth registered twice?Ballymena and Scotland

My late aunt Sarah Robinson has an entry on familysearch.org as birth Oct-Dec 1911 in Ballymena.  She also appears on Scotland's People birth registered in Uphall, West Lothian, Scotland 1912.  I know that she was born on 27th December 1911 and that the family were living together in Uphall, Scotland at the time of the 1911 Scottish Census earlier that year.  I also know that the mother left the family at some stage after my aunt was born.

I'm trying to establish whether the mother Maggie (my grandmother) left the father John and other 5 children in Scotland then, went back to Antrim, gave birth to the youngest baby Sarah there and did not return to Scotland. Perhaps the father John brought the baby back to Scotland and registered her there too.  Is that possible?
