The Lighter Side / Re: I am so glad I had a childhood before technology took over

Shame on him!  :)

We have just had our twice yearly General Conference and one of the leaders spoke just about that, doing family history, telling stories to our children. For me family history and the work we do is all about what the Church teaches. A non member friend asked me what we do in the Temples that are all over the world, I explained briefly and her reply was "oh, you put families together"

It is sad to see the FHC being empty, but it makes it all worth it when someone comes in regardless of their beliefs.

I have loved reading this thread, as a director of a LDS family history centre it is so sad to see that they are nearly always empty, well at least at ours is. The wonderful lady who I work with has taught me everything I know and I love hearing her stories of the hours she put in to research. It is a delight when someone new comes in and has a passion and desire to get started, sadly a lot of church members are not interested.

Not sure if it will be any help.....had a look at the NZ bdm website. There are 9 children to Arthur and Margaret,

1869 William
1870 Thomas John
1873 Arthur
1875 Charles Edward
1876 Charlotte
1878 James Allison
1884 Amelia
1885 Joseph
1890 Alfred George

There is quite a gap between James and Amelia, miscarriage maybe? Or time apart? I just wondered if the childrens names might throw a clue to earlier family members. Naming pattern.....

Hi Del,

Nice to make the connection, according to my records they had no children.

Also a side note, says Henry died in Gisborne.

Will do some more research.

Hi,

Have not done any family history for ages, but decided again today to have a look at the will of my 2x Great Grandfather.

He mentions one of his grandsons Hugh Neil ADAMS a baker from New Plymouth, he dies in 1921 age 48. I would like to know where he is buried please.

Many thanks,

Gail.

Feeling quite blue,  only found one of my family,  and would expect too as he was a VC recipient.
Also no photo of a Adam Black Douglas WILSON , but his picture is on the cenotaph website. All in all though a wonderful resource , am looking forward to the third book .

Hi. Sorry I can't give you much information right here and now as we have just shifted house, this family is my Mother in law's family, so it is possible we could share some information.

I will talk to Mum later today, she is very interested in family history, also there are other BOSSON buried in Hawera, would be happy to take photos.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks KHP........I still havn't got used to thinking outside the square with spellings of names. That makes perfect sense of Margaret's surname being MOOR as they use it as a middle name of their firstborn son.

Will indeed contact BDM and let them know.

Many thanks,

Gail.
