Hi Andrew

The next time you fancy oggling the lass in the RO, could you take a look at 1831/1833 for any sign of my elusive Hugh Tooley/O'Toole.

Parents Robert (according to marriage cert) and Rose Ann/Rosanna (from the early census.

Still not found them in 1841 but still presuming they're in Lancs as a child was born to Robert and Rosanna in Liverpool c1837

Thanks a lot

Lou

What a brilliant site, thanks Keith

Shall have to print some of these off for the book, if I ever manage to prove my link!

And to Su and Nick....well, what can I say!

Wow!  I'm still not sure whether these are my family or not....I'm trying all the obvious routes to try and prove a link but nothing concrete as yet

Andrew

That's brilliant, thank you so much.....I'm going to revise my initial thoughts on Hugh now, though.

We received his marriage certificate yesterday...1851 and he was a minor so think he was adding years on to make himself older on the census.  Either that or he had no idea when he was actually born

Think we're going to have to see whether the RO do any kind of search service as there's no way I can get to Whitehaven, so at least all this info now narrows down what I'll need to ask for (I'm disabled and Ali's in the States!)

Many thanks again

UPDATE.....

I've found the family in 1851....seriously decayed returns but enough to be able to tell that the family unit in 1841 would look something like this

John Davenport 50
Phoebe "   54
Joseph 15/20
Harriet " 15
John (Robinson) 15
Martha " 12

Thanks  Lou

Hi there

I'm afraid I don't have a lot to go on but I'm looking for the marriage of William Turner to Ellen ?????.

William was born in Staffordshire but Ellen was born in Wilmslow/Bollin Fee and this is where they lived all their married life and where the children were baptised so I'm hoping this is where they would have married as well.

I imagine they would have married sometime between 1805 and 1815.

Thanks

Lou
