Kent Lookup Requests / Gilwyns Chiddingstone
« on: Wednesday 10 August 11 21:56 BST (UK)  »
I have just discovered that my grandparents were living in a house called called Gilwyns, Mill Lane, Chiddingstone Kent. My grandfather's profession is listed as a gardener as were three other people that live in the same house but a seperate division. this makes sense as I know he was a gardenr in the 1901 census on a large estate in Suffolk.

What I need to  know is who  ownded the house in Kent in 1911 so  that I can  try to  ascertain  who  he worked for.

Many Thanks

Norfolk / Hardingham
« on: Wednesday 21 October 09 10:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

A lot of my family lived in Hardingham in Norfolk from the early 1800's until  the turn of the century they are the Garners and the Coles. The Garners at one point ran the now closed pub the bird in the hand and then went on to become the villages "carrier". This role was taken over by his son in law Robert Cole.
I am  really trying to find out more about the village itself as they all  seemed to  live in the same place but the road name changes every census. They were all mostly Ag labs too so trying to find out which farm they may have worked on.
Really looking for anyone that may have a really good knowledge of the village.

Many ~Thanks

Hi,

Ahh ok  I have just been really lucky then I have been using Free reg    http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/Search.pl

To  search  for many of my relatives in Norfolk and many of the entries appear to have lots of info like parents names mothers maiden name etc. I just assumed it would be the same everywhere. oh well its a lark  this family hunting isn't it !!

Thanks again everyone here seems so helpful

Againg thnaks very much  I have to  say in the week I have been  using these boards the response has been  amazing.

But I'm still  a little confused if the record is indeed an extracted record as in taken from the registers why would it not list the mother and father all  the ones I have found so far do appear to do this?

Many Thanks again
