Norfolk Lookup Requests / Re: norfolk 1841 census or earlier?
« on: Thursday 10 November 11 08:10 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks Ladyhawk,

I cant find when he arrived in NSW but his obituary said he was in the colony approx 50 years when he died in 1900. He was 30 when married in 1857.
On the sons birth cert (1858 NSW BDM) it says his father (John Henry) was born in Norfolk England to parents John Williamson and Ann (Woods).

Regards
Mac

Australia / Re: Location Currawong, Bogan River NSW

Steve,
Gamboola is a property just east of Molong on the Mitchell Hwy to Orange.
You are right about Burrawang station west of Parkes. Here is a link to the website which may help. http://www.burrawangwest.com.au/index.php
Molong is about 80kms from Parkes.

There also was a property called Burrawong which is near Cumnock. Often they got mixed up with each other. Cumnock is 20kms northwest of Molong.

On the certificate does it say Molong? This would mean it was registered in Molong but could have taken place in the smaller centres around Molong. If they were married in Burrawang (Bogan Gate) it would be registered in Parkes or Condobolin usually. Maybe it was Burrawong near Cumnock not Burrawang near Bogan Gate?

Here is some info on Burrawong, Cumnock. I hope this helps.

Australia / Re: (Jack Huxley) NSW death Elizabeth HUXLEY (nee PERKINS)
« on: Monday 09 May 11 10:19 BST (UK)  »
Sorry Merlin, I was all messed up there! Although the time frame dosent seem to line up, I have ordered it anyway. Thankyou for looking for me.

The only other surname for Jack Huxley I can think would be Perkins? Perhaps he was born John. I have often wondered about the Lindsay part of his name, perhaps a grandparent last name?

Iam at a loss at the moment and appreciate all the help   :)

Many thanks

Thanks merlin, the E. Huxley in Lithgow seems a bit early with the paper clippings I have.
They are my pop and nan that are buried in Manildra.
My mum and aunty are thinking hard about the little things he told them when he was alive. I think we might be on the verge of discovery. They are trying to remember his stepsisters name, once I know I will post it as it may help narrowing it done.
JM, as far as I know he was 15 yo playing with men. I was hoping it was 1911, fingers are crossed!
Hope easter was good to you all.

Im currently in contact with people involved at Newtown who may be able to help. I have since learned that he played at Marrickville United age 15 (c 1927)before progressing through the grades at Newtown. Im sure this would mean he lived in the Marrickville area at the time.

Also still waiting on a death transcript of his possible mother.

Sorry for my absence, was quite busy over Easter etc.

Many thanks

Mac
