Cork / Marriage certificates Bandon
« on: Saturday 16 July 11 17:46 BST (UK)  »
Sometime ago someone kindly found out the marriage details for my relatives in the civil registration indexes of 1874.  I was given the registration district as Bandon and the information included volume, page numbers etc.  Does anyone know who I would contact to get the actual marriage certificate ?  Would this be held in the Dublin Record Office or is there somewhere in Bandon where the parish records are held ?  Thank you for any help .  Denise

Oh thank you soooo much ! This is looking really promising and now I feel really useless that I have searched and searched and you have found some info in a few minutes  :D but that's why you are labelled an expert and I am not ! Ha! Ha!  I really appreciate your help and will follow this lead.  Have a lovely weekend x

Cork / Johannah Sweeney
« on: Saturday 20 February 10 17:36 GMT (UK)  »
I am wondering if anyone can offer any advice on how I can progress further with finding information on my Great Grandmother. Thanks to an expert  :D - I have managed to find out that Johannah's maiden name was Sweeney and that she was born in Ireland (place unknown) in approx 1848.  Johannah married William Deasy who was born in Desertserges, County Cork and they are shown to be living in West Ham on the 1901 census.  Their children William Deasy,Catherine Deasy,Mary Deasy, Johannah Deasy and James Deasy were born in the London area from 1875 onwards.  I seem to be going round in circles and wonder how I can find out if Johannah and William married in Ireland or England and if it is even possible to find this out without knowing whereabouts Johannah was born; presuming of course that they would marry in her own parish in Ireland.  Thank you to anyone that can help me with this one !  :)

Hello Karen. No I haven't requested their certificates.  I knew that mother's and father's name would be on them but not mother's maiden name.  I might have to explore this avenue   ! Thank you for getting back to me. Like Fenetta; I wish you a great weekend too !

Hi Everyone !

William Deasy was born in Desertserges County Cork approx 1840 and died in london 1917.  He married Johannah surname unknown. in 1891 and 1901 they were living in West Ham in London with 5 children : William, Catherine,Mary, Johannah and James. All of the children were born in England from 1870s onwards but I can't find the family on the 1881 Census. I am also wondering where I could find a birth certificate for William. Do I look for the parish Desertserges ? or I am slightly confused what the townlands are within this parish - Sorry if I am being ignorant  :(  also how I could find out the maiden name of Johannah who he married .   I would be grateful if anyone can help me with any of this. Or are there any relatives out there ? I haven't been able to trace anyone I am beginning to think we are almost extinct !! Ha! Ha!  - Thank you  - Denise
