Nottinghamshire Resources & Offers / Re: Offer: Notts Hearth Tax 1664 : 1674

Yes thanks Alexander, that’s helpful information, and I very much appreciate you taking the trouble to look it up for me.

Hopefully it’ll allow me to uncover a bit more of my ancestry.

Best regards,
Mike

Good Evening!

Could you please be so good as to look up any Hearth Tax or Protestation Returns for Job/Jobb/Jobe as they seem to have gone off the radar for Lincolnshire where I know they reside in the 1690s. Also, if at all possible, could you confirm that my other ancestors, with surname, Brockton and Neale reside in Nottinghamshire in the 1600s, as I’m somewhat unclear as to which parishes they might be in.

I would very much appreciate your help, as have been at a “brick wall” stage for ages now!

Many thanks,
Mike

Thanks again,

Thanks Carol

I think I'll have to try get hold of the microfiche and fingers crossed I'll find some baptism entries.

My hunch is they connect up with the Neale's from Mansfield Woodhouse, but so far finding the link in a will or parish record is eluding me!

Regards
Mike

Hi Carol

I do apologise, just checked on Notts FHS website and as you say the baptisms transcriptions don't start until 1714. I should have asked for a look up on the Marriages which start at 1570, to see if there was any Neale married in Skegby around 1700.

Kind of you to offer to do a look up at Nottingham Archives, but as I've just joined the Soc of Genealogists, I'll check if they have any microfiche available.

Regards,
Mike

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Look Up request for Neale's of Skegby c. 1700

Hi Everyone

Just wondered if someone could be so good as to try find any Baptism records for Neale/Neal/Nail around 1700 from the Notts FHS transcription of the Skegby by Mansfield parish records?

An Edward Neale from Skegby is recorded as marrying an Ann Inocent in 1733, and I think him and his siblings were probably baptised in Skegby around 1700?

I would gladly buy the Notts FHS cd's myself, but unfortunately they won't work on my MAC computer.

Thank you,
Mike

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1891 Census SAUNDERS George Ward

Hi Angie

Just come across your post for George Ward Saunders. He married a distant relative of mine, Ada Clara Gabrielle Job, the daughter of a Dr Samuel Job of Newark. One of their daughters Dorothy Ward Saunders worked at R.A.D.A. and was Sir Kenneth Barnes secretary.

I've managed to find a picture of Rev George Ward Saunders during his time in Jersey.

Regards,
Mike

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Thomas Neale of Mansfield marriage around 1714?
« on: Thursday 18 February 10 11:58 GMT (UK)  »
Just wondered if anyone could find a marriage for a Thomas Neale (baptised 12 Jul 1692), the son of John Neale and Ann Pendock from Mansfield Woodhouse, who died around 1721/2, his relatives having probate proved on a bond and admon on 2 Apr 1722?

Thank you,
Mike

No I haven't seen the original entry for the marriage unfortunately, I gleaned this bit of information from the IGI index. Out of interest is his brother, Robert Neale (b 1786 ish) mentioned? From what I've worked out he married a Francis Maria Rennie on 21 Jun 1817, and there is a mention of a christening of a Robert Neale at Langer, Notts on 23 Apr 1786, but again I'm unclear as to whether this is one and the same person. Only information I have about this Robert Neale from London Marriage Banns is that he was from the town & county of Nottingham. Thanks, Mike.
