Cumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Reverend John William Conway Hughes
« on: Monday 23 April 18 22:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi again
You must know Buster Evenson - I have communicated with him because he and his mother Hilda Evenson nee Scully  came to grandad Charles Sampson's funeral. Hilda was a live in home help who looked after Mary because she had dementia and couldn't be left alone. Herbert was the second born son - Charles [ aka as Charlie] was the eldest and Maude was the only girl - she was born after Charles snr came back from WW1.
I have a lot of info but of course not sure on some things and possibly there are errors. I have Irene born 1877 and Mary born 1878. But I have never purchased Irene's birth certificate to clarify her birth date. It may be easier to exchange some information out of the public forum. Would that be a possibility?

Hi Greg
My line is via Mary Campbell Hamilton b 18 October 1878 - she was the fourth of 6 children of Gertrude Hughes and George Douglas Hamilton. She married twice - Joseph James Oakley 16 January 1899 - 5 children. Her second marriage - Charles peter Sampson 21 August 1919- 3 children. Herbert Sampson second to eldest was my father.  What is your line?

Europe / Re: Denmark: Thorkel Hansen

Hi Lorraine Thanks for the contact. I have heard in the past from Allyn [your brother I think?] and am always searching for all the missing information from the Hansen family. Are there any old photos from your side of the family?
We know Ellen - Auntie Nellie- she was unique and like you say very special. We visited her in Akaroa many years ago and she was a a mine of information but there is such a lot we will never know. I had found out about the children being at Industrial Schools. Granny [Alice Christina] never spoke of it.
I am very interested as you can see from my research about the history of Thorkil so if it gives you a little more 'back ground' then that is a good thing. Do you want to email me in a private capacity? I can add nothing new at this point so I am unsure about maintaining this old thread.Regards

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Monrath

Hello
I started looking into the Monrath line in response to interest to my cousins' mothers line.  My cousins are the children of Bessie - one of the children of Odine's second marriage to Francis Fuller Adam.  My cousins don't have the time to pursue research but I really love it so you could say I am doing it for them. We can't pm each other until there are certain number of communications but I would love to format their mothers ancestry for them - are you willing to help me? I would be very grateful.

Hi KHP
I would be very pleased if this person wanted to make contact with me.
I am working on behalf of four cousins [whose dear mother had died] and they are interested in finding out more about her family line.
Thank you very much. :)

I too was wondering about the mystery Herman -  and Hans Peter Rievers. The reason for emigrating to the other side of the world is Hans Rievers - possibly he was already married - this would be the main reason for him not to marry the mother of his children.

Hi MINNIHAHA
You are a star! You have found out so much information.
Did you find out anything about Charles Monrath Woodward married Polly Hoff 1896? He is my mystery man. I feel - but have no way of knowing for sure - that he may be Clementina's son Carl.If he took his stepfather William Isaac Woodwards' surname then I may be able to link him into the family. One of his children - Odine Clementina Woodward born 1902 [the name is a dead giveaway isn't it ?] married John William Wardle in 1920 - widowed 1928- remarried Francis Fuller Adam in 1929 - died in 1936 age 33. That is my cousins line. Of course it is so hard to find out how many children -possibly three by first marriage and I know she had two or three by second marriage - not sure whether it is two or three? Children were fostered out after Odine's death.  I think it is time to invest in some certificates - marriages and death to see what that shows up. Many thanks.
