I've noticed the Vary/Varey name cropping up in the Davey/Davy family in East Yorkshire.  The Davey's were  Earthenware sellers and also Coal merchants. Anne Davey married into the Swales family from Kirkbymoorside.

Also the name Vary crops up in the Barr family, one of whom is related through marriage to the Davey family from North Cave.

Annoyingly, i cannot link up the Davey families......although i think they may be related.

Thanks for the links......i like the sound of Bobs book!!
I was told by my grandmother she was from a travellers background.......i have coopers, ayres, Harris (who was a hawker)......plus more names that have cropped up here.....
I don't want to assume that they are from the travelling community, more work is needed yet.....
Regardless......one way or another i now have more respect for the travelling community, which can only be a good thing.
Cheers Steve.......and thanks for the info you always impart in such a good friendly manner......which goes for many others on here too, who are only too willing to help those of us in need.......:)

Hi Steve G.........thanks very much for your help........and i do apologise for not being more specific on my posting...:(

You were right, i should have put East Yorkshire.

Andrew_Bandrew hi, i have actually noticed one or two Davey/Davy families in East Yorkshire have had origins in Suffolk county.  I'll do more checking and get back to you........one family i believe, settled in Skirlaugh - Holderness, East Yorkshire.  Not one of mine though.

By the way.......what does 'wb' mean??

Steve does your book have any references to any members of the Davey Family who lived in North Cave.  According to the 1891 local census they were Earthenware dealers and Hawkers.......

I cannot find out where this branch of the Davey/Davy family originated from.......
