London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Florence BANNISTER
« on: Wednesday 11 October 06 20:28 BST (UK)  »
I have located many of my anceestors in Warwickshire and Staffordshire between 1790 and 1901 but I have now stumbled upon a small problem I hope someone can help me with. I found an entire Bannister family in the 1881 census but with a Florence Bannister listed as a NEICE. The rest of the family was born in Warwickshire but her birthplace is listed as London. Another oddity is that in the 1891 census she is then listed as a DAUR. but the birthplace is a bit more specific......Wansworth,London. Also the birth date is 3 years later (1881).  Can anyone make a suggestion how I can go about finding her parents? Possibly they died when she was young.  I haven't been able to locate a Florence Bannister being born around this time.  ANy suggestions?

The Common Room / Sir Roger Bannister

OK, I don't know if this is the place to ask this so I will anyway.  I've traced my family back to at least 1820 in Warwickshire.  I'm trying to find the link between my family and Roger Bannister.  The information about this family connection is pretty reliable.  Does anyone have any info or know where I can find more information on Sir Roger Bannister?  I have found very little in the way of his family history on the internet and I live in the US.  Even his father's name would be helpful to me.  His family stayed in the north of England in Lancashire for 400 years. His immediate family moved to Bath during WWll. His father has 11 brothers and sisters and most worked in the cotton industry. Roger supposedly was my father's 3rd cousin so I'm guessing his father was my Great Grandfather's brother.  His name was Samuel Bannister. Any information on Sir Roger's family would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dennis K Bannister

Thanks for the info from the 1861 census. I've received the marriage certificate and Charles and Mary Ann ARE his parents. The name is now spelled with 2 Ns instead of one.  I found the same info in the 1851 census minus a few of the children.

Completed Census Requests / Birmingham,Warwick 1851 Lookup Request

I've traced my Great grandfather and his family back to Tipton Stafford.  According to the 1881 census he was born in 1849 in Balsall Heath Birmingham, Warwick.  I have not been able to find him in any birth index as of this time.  I was hoping someone could check the 1851 census to see if he is listed.  His name is Samuel Bannister and he should be around 2 years old.  I have been told over the years by my father and other relatives that we are related to Sir Roger Bannister but I can't find the link yet.  Any info would be appreciated.  Hopefully the 1851 census can tell me his parents name and anyone else in the household.

Thanks,

Dennis K Bannister
