Berkshire / Re: Cook Family Berkshire I NEED HELP!
« on: Monday 16 April 12 09:27 BST (UK)  »
I have a Cook family tree going back to 1760s Berkshire but none of your names and dates coincide with mine so must be another branch.
My Cooks hailed from West Shefford and Hampstead Norris.
My Gt grandmother was Ellen Cook born 1876 Basildon, Berks.
We might be related?

Please would somebody be able to look up the date and place of death of
Stanley Percyfield Charleston b 1883 Plymouth. His father was William and mother Elizabeth and estranged husband of Elsie Florence Charleston (nee Stilwell).

Thanks and sorry. Yes I realised after I posted that message that the younger one was born on Alderney and it was only the older Sophia born on IOW.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Bellam/Butt family IOW

Does anyone have any information on Sophia Bellam b 1846 from IOW. She married Jaques (James) Gaudion Audoire in 1866 on Alderney. Her mother was possibly Sophia also and I'm not sure if her mother in turn was Mary Ann Butt married to James Bellam.
regards

Hi Matt, thanks for that. No I haven't heard from Julia yet, maybe she's had second thoughts and can't bear the thought that we may be related! I think it's pretty cool actually. After all, in those days unless you had the financial means, people didn't travel far from their families/homes. My Channel Island family tree is full of the same names throughout as there were only so many families on an island and there was bound to be a bit of intermarrying going on.

Hi Matt, sorry I don't remember your grandfather, or the Smiths but I do remember a Banks family at Wakemans that had 10 children. Are you related to them?

haha, sounds a bit spooky to me! No the Noakes family were no relation, but George Noakes b1902 was a near neighbour of mine. I remember his wife used to play piano at my ballet lessons in the old village hall in Basildon.
One of my other neighbours used to call him 'Old Noaksey'.
