Hello again Everyone!

I know it has been sometime since I posted regarding my great great grandfather Philip Launder Bligh (born as Percy Lauder).

I have finally got around to getting his birth certificate and am looking for your help again.

So, he was born Percy Lauder on 27th Decemeber 1877 at 44 New Town, Ashford.
He was the illegitimate son of Catherine Lauder, a dressmaker, residing at the above address.

I am now very keen to find out more about Catherine and why Percy/Philip was adopted/taken in by Rebecca Bligh in Tonbridge, Kent.

I have found two Catherine Lauders born in the late 1850s in West Ashford through Ancestry records.

I am going on a hunch but I believe she is the Catherine born in the last quarter of 1858 to George Lauder and Elizabeth Austen. My hunch for this is that they lived at 97 New Street and Percy was born at 44 New Town?? I am guessing that these streets are close by, if New Town was a street. I also thought New Town might be a name for the workhouse perhaps?

I would like to find a way to connect this Catherine (if she is the right one) to Percy. Can anyone suggest how I might do this?

Many thanks in advance!

Cari :-)

Thanks for the link to the Lincoln marriages, unfortunately I can only view the marriages up to Groom Surname C!  :(

I got the marriage date from a different tree on Ancestry. On that tree, Ellen's father is listed as Richard.

I am still awaiting a reply from the tree's owner. I would appreciate any help meantime from RootsChat members if they can help!

Lincolnshire / Ellen L'Estrange died in Horncastle 1893

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a bit of help trying to trace an Ellen L'Estrange who married a William Frazier/Frazer in Horncastle, Lincolnshire on 12 May 1842. I have had no problem tracing her on all the census' once she is married, but would love to find her somewhere in 1841!

According to the census', she was born about 1822 in Ireland. I would like to find out the names of her parents too.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance!
Cari

Well done Geoff!

The Dunholme Joseph is the correct one! Albert had also said that Joseph had sisters called Lydia and Frances and brothers Herbert and Natt/Nutt. These names all fit in with this family!! Thank you so much for all your help today, couldn't have done it without you!  ;D

Mmmm that Joseph isn't mine, that one goes on to marry a Nellie, not an Ethel or Kate! The hunt goes on...

I have that death for Ethel. She was Joseph Taylor's first wife and died the year before he married Kate.

I think you are definitely right, it just all seems to fit together now! Thank you so much! Am just trying to find them now on the 1891 census to see if Kate had any siblings, she is the only child in 1901!

I now also need to try and find Joseph's family! There only seems to be one Joseph, son of Charles in 1901 in Lincolnshire so am thinking that must be him!
