Travelling People / Re: Thomas Lovell and Union Bosworth
« on: Sunday 28 August 22 22:27 BST (UK)  »
Union Bosworth is said to be the daughter of Zaha/Seni/Sinah Boss/Lovell/Loveridge
 & Elisha (Leshi) Heron Boswell.

Seni's parents are said to be: Shadrack (Gypsil) Boswell
B. 21 OCT 1750 • Essex (or Hendon), D. ABT. 1799 • Netherlands & (1) Elizabeth Buckley (also known as Cinderella Wood)

These are bits I picked up from other trees.

Hi, My husband is descended from the John Lovell and Union Lee that you mentioned who settled in Barnes. They married in 1819 in Finchley. That family is well documented so they are definitely not the same couple,  but trying to find the ancestry of our John Lovell (born about 1797) is difficult. There are people who have added ancestors to their ancestry tree for him but I am doubtful....  There must be a relationship between your Thomas Lovell & Union Bosworth because we have some distant DNA matches which show it. But finding out how is the difficult bit. I wrote an article on the 'Lovells of Barnes' a long time ago, which was on the Romany Genes site, but I think that site has disappeared now. alison (if anyone wants it message me and I will work out how to get it to you)

Derry (Londonderry) / Re: CURRIE Family of Co Londonderry
« on: Wednesday 29 May 13 21:02 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I am trying to find out about a Cornelius Currie, father of Letitia Currie born between 1830-42 in Londonderry, Irelend. She gives her age as 24 in 1861, 32 in 71, 47 in 81, 55 in 1891, 59 in 1901. She died in Glamorganshire in 1911. She married John Jones and spent her life in Wales.
If any of you find a connection or a reference to her birth or her father I would be grateful to know. Thanks alison

It was me who put the Lovell/Whitby of Barnes info on Romany genes. I have an updated version of my notes and an extensive tree if you want it.
Sinny will be short for Cinementa/Sinementi (there are various spellings). There are a number of them in the wider family. John Lovell & Union Lee's Granddaughter Lemonelia Powell married George 'Feathers' Smith and they had children in the late 1890s and 1900s. I don't think they had a Sinamenta though, their children are well documented, but George probably had brothers who married in to the family as well.

Kent Lookup Requests / Re: MCCROSSEN family from WOOLWICH
« on: Sunday 30 December 12 22:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Sally, I have a distant connection with the McCrossens of Woolwich. They were not catholic. There are plenty of references to their marriages, baptisms etc. on Ancestry for the family of Alexander & Catherine McCrossen, all taking place at Anglican churches. I haven't seen any reference to a son James but he could be one of theirs. Alex and Catherine are in in the census of 1841. I think Alex died 1863 and Catherine 1858. There are marriage certs for daughter Sarah to William Hall in 1844, son Alexander to Elizabeth Driscoll in 1846. Another person says there was a son Jeremiah, who was in the army in 1841 and a pauper in 1901. For spellings also check: Crosen, Crosan, Crossen, McCrosen etc... Also some of the ancestry transcribing is wrong. I have tried to make correction notes where possible.

Leander is not an unusual name amongst gypsies. Leander Hearne and Leander Green may not be the same one.

Nel, you said 'Philip and Councellete had siblings Lydia,Patience,Britannia,Leonard,James and Anna.I have partners for most if you need them. Parents Edward Dixey and Sarah Eastwood.'
I would be interested to see what partners you have for them.
