Make the most of it, it is Ancestry after all.
“Ya gets nowt fer nowt”

It didn't last long! Gone this morning.

I'm also getting the 8-19cM shared matches without having ProTools. This previously required a ProTools subscription. It seems odd that Ancestry are not making us pay for this. Christmas spirit?
I don't have ProTools either. Weird that Anc have not said anything about this. If this is permanent then it might be significant in identifying some of my unknowns.

I've got matches as low as eight.  It's increased my total number to over 22,000.
I rarely look beyond the first 100.

I think matches have gone down to 8cM for a long time but shared matches had a 20cM cut-off. I now have shared matches well below the previous cut-off and I am wondering if this is a new development that is being rolled out or can everyone see shared matches below 20cM.

Just back from a break so I have not looked at my match list for about a week. Am I correct in thinking Anc have recently changed shared match lists to include shared matches below 20cM? Is this a new development that is being rolled out or is everyone now seeing shared matches below the previous 20cM cut-off?

I have been reverted too. Personally I hope it never comes back. Too much scrolling.

Can anyone please tell me what these 'traits' identify? Is the extra £10 worth it?

The traits are characteristics eg male pattern baldness, dancing, sports ability etc. You get an indication whether you are more likely or less likely to show these characteristics supposedly from analysis of your DNA sample. My results are mostly wrong and it is clear that they are little more than guesses. I agree with Zaphod99 - it reduces their credibility but given they now offer a kit for your dog .....

Personally I don’t think AI  should be part of family history when there are so many people believing in Ancestry’s claim “just enter a name….”.

To be fair I don't know for sure if the new display involves AI. I just think it has a feel of AI.

In most cases you really should evaluate from the top down. If you spend hours evaluating five or six generations from the bottom up and then the last one doesn't connect to your tree it's very frustrating. Been there, done that etc !

I prefer to scan down quickly to identify any red flags and evaluate those first. I find it is often quicker.
