Many thanks for your help Gortinanima - it is much appreciated.  I didn't realise that it would be a Presbyterian Church where the children were baptised & I will investigate both Thomas Lindsay & Magherafelt workhouse.
Thanks, Olphert

Derry (Londonderry) / Londonderry Drumachose residents

Can anyone help please?

I am looking for Scott Lindsay born approx 1817 Co.Londonderry who married Ann ? born approx 1822 in Co.Antrim.  They had several children in Drumachose between 1841 &1863/4 which I have managed to find on the IGI.  I have found Scott in Glasgow in the 1881 Scotland Census as a pensioner from the RIC.

I want to find out Scott's birthplace (& his parents names), his wife's surname & when/where they married (around 1840 i'm guessing) & anything else about their life in Ireland - not alot then!!

Any advice welcome.  Thanks. Olphert

Thanks for the link Ady - it's very useful.  Have found his marriage in Q2 1891 So he was probably back for that.  He then has kids in 1892,4,6,8,9 and so I suspect that his service with the 2nd was mostly prior to 1891.

I think a trip to Kew to find any service records is my next destination.

Thanks again. Olphert

Ady & Phil
Thanks for your help/information.  I have never been to Kew before but am realising that it is the hub of ancestral information, so I will be trying to organise a visit to look up some air records.

What does MIC mean please?

Phil - which source suggested that he was civilian intake to the RFC - I think he would have been.
Thanks, Olphert

Hi Shaun
Thanks for the link - fantastic.  I am new to all this so it's great to have a result so quickly.

What is the list of names that appeared at the end of your reply?

William Harker (born 1838 Hull) is listed in the 1861 Census as a gunner on HMS Narcissus.  Can anyone direct me to information about this ship, its voyages around this time and the life of a gunner on board a Royal Navy Vessel.
Thanks

My ancester John Robert Crawford (born 1864 Leeds) is listed in the 1891 census as Private 2nd West Yorkshire Regiment.  Can anyone direct me to a history of this regiment or what they were doing at this time?
Thanks

Does anyone have information about the RF Corps during 1914-1918 in Mesopotamia.  My relation Nelson Harker (born 1897 Holbeck, Leeds) was stationed there for part of the war.  I cannot find his records but did find him on the electoral roll 1918 for absentee service men giving 3/am 28154.
Thanks
