Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Date for Milne family photo

I know the photo posted was taken in Dundee but the photographers (D & W Prophet) were in business from 1884 to 1964. I'm guessing this is Edwardian but is it possible to date it more accurately.  If it's any help the older couple were both born in 1856, their daughter in 1879 and the young man who was her husband in 1875.

Locations could be Strongarve and Woodlands to the SW of Evanton.  Go to http://footpathmaps.com/
and enter Evanton as the location to see map of the area.

Hello again

I am descended thro' one of the 9 children of Alex Alex & Jane McPherson.  My grandfather was at one time the tenant farmer at E Hill of Craigo.  It is interesting to learn that the gravestone is much older than the "written" side would suggest, I was not aware of that.  I have not done a great deal of digging farther back than JA & MC but the Marykirk couple married 1798 do seem possible.

Sorry I can't help directly with your brick wall.  I am descended from the same missing pair through Alexander Alexander and wondered if you were aware of his tombstone in Logie Church.  I have a photo of it if you want.

My best guess would be "David Laing" and "Helen Darling"  I'm more confident of the latter.

Kincardineshire / Re: James DICKSON of Glenbervie farm c 1748

Don't know if it's any help but Scotlands People website has one James Dickson born in Kincardineshire in 1741 and a marriage for a James Dickson in Glenbervie on 1 May 1773.  If you register with the site and purchase some credits you will be able to view images of these events as recorded in the Old Parish Registers.  These may not be your man but may be related.

The 1861-2 OS 25in to 1mile map available at http://www.nls.uk/maps/towns/index.html#montrose has Crancel Braes marked to the E of what is now Mount Road, Montrose.

Might this be the place you are looking for?
