If you haven't done so, it might pay to defrag your pc as well. Because of the awful file structure on Windows, if it opens any files or folders it will write any extra information and put it any where it can on the hard drive. Hence your hard drive becomes more and more "fragmented". By defragging it Windows sorts all the data back into order. If it hasn't been done for a long time the pc will run faster and boot up quicker as well, although the first time might take a few hours to do. :-\

First post here.
I am using Linux. PCLINUXOS to be exact. Does anyone know of any compatible family history software please. I have tried GRAMPS but didn't like it. I used Family Tree Maker when I used Windows. I  tried it using WINE but it was slightly erratic.
