Message for Hugh

Hi Hugh, since we last exchanged messages - I have a  bit more info on my William Pritchard, I believe he did marry a Sarah, and had a daugher called Sarah, also a daughter Mary b.1860 and a son David.
They are all on the 1861 Census.  On the 1871 Census William is a widower, living alone with the 3 children.

Does any of this ring a bell? and if so, what is your connection with William Pritchard, would like to see if we have any connection worth following up at all.   Thanks Hugh, regards, Anne (aka Sidonia).

Hi Alsieboy

Do you have a picture of the Ship Inn (or Hotel) in Crane Street, Pontypool?

My Gt Grandparents kept this pub c.1916-1920, their name was Pym, Benjeman and Mary.  Mary died at the pub in 1920, later my grandfather Henry John Banks took over as landlord.  My mother Ethel Banks was born there in 1925.  I do know that the Ship was demolished in the 1970s.

Wonder also if you have a photo of Forge Row, Pontypool?. (at Pontnewydd I believe - forgive the spelling though)  Little row of stone cottages which are still there to this day.  Benjeman and Mary Pym were living at number 7 Forge Row in 1901, with their children, which included my grandmother Emily, age 12.

many thanks in anticipation, Sidonia

Hi there

Many thanks for the info on William Pritchard.  As you say, the names tally, but not the dates.  It is baffling!!.  Do you have any further info on what became of them - there might be a link.

fingers crossed, Anne

Hi Karen

Many thanks indeed for the valuable information you've supplied.  The names and places certainly add up, although the dates do not tally quite with mine.  I'm wondering whether my Mary was a little older than stated on her marriage cert.  If she was born 1860/61 she would have been 25 and not 22 as stated.  This might be why I'm unable to find an accurate birth record for her.  It's all very interesting. I'm going to check out the census info you supplied and see if I can trace them further,  I will get back to you and let you know what I find.

Fingers crossed!!  Anne

Mary Ann Pritchard born Aberdare 1864, married Benjaman Pym in 1886 Newport Reg Office. Lived in Machen, then Pontypool. Mary Pym died 1920 at The Ship Hotel, Pontypool.  She was my gt. grandmother.   I can trace her when she married into Pym - but unable to trace any information about her birth or her family prior to her marriage.  Her father's name was William, and I believe she had a sister Sarah.  Does this ring any bells with anyone out there?  here's hoping ... any info, however vague, would be much appreciated.

Hello, I'm trying to trace my gt gt grandfather, William Pritchard, who had a daughter Mary Ann (b.1864/65) and possibly a daughter Sarah.  There were connections with Aberdare and Machen.  He was a general labourer.  Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks
