That's fantastic!  Thank you so much to everyone for the photos and the research.  From this William Quegan I think I need one generation BACK to link them to my family tree.  Does anyone have any information photos of a generation prior to this one?  Rosemary Quagan, Leiceser, Massachusetts

Here is an exchange years ago with Gavin Quigan from New Zealand.  Looks like you share grandparents:

Found your name on "irish millennium family register. Have identified that my
grandfather was born in Ireland 22/1/1869 at Birr, Offaly name was Vincent Maurice
Quegan. Changed spelling of surname to Quigan when emigrated to New Zealand early
1900's. Had a brothers named William and James and sisters named Mary, Teresa and
Agnes. Parents named William Quegan who married Sarah Flanagan. James and Agnes
emigrated to USA.
Was wondering if there may be a family tie up given similarity in spelling of surname
and Offaly connection. Town of Derinduff also features in my research to date.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Gavin Quigan.

I am sure we are related, but I have not found the common ancestor yet!

Thank you so much!  Can you go back any further?  There seem to be a few families in America; we'd need to go back further to see how we may be related.

My ancestors, brothers and sister, James, Ellen and Patrick Quegan arrived in Taunton, Massachusetts, America in about 1885.  On their death certificates, their parents are recorded as William Quegan and Ellen Boland.  I see there are Quegans still in Birr, but I cannot make the connection.  On census records I see some William Quegans but not with wife, Ellen.  Can someone help me?  Thank you!  Rosemary Quagan

Thank, you, that was very thoughtful of you to post this.  Can you tell which of those individuals listed has the last name Quegan?  The father of the brothers that came to America is William Quegan, wife Ellen Boland.  I believe William's dates 1812-1894 from a Wm Quegan of that name on a census record.  I'm not certain that it is the same.  The Wm Quegan I'm looking for has children born from 1848 to 1866.  I am at a standstill and any information at all is a help!

I would like to communicate with the first gentleman on this string, MickeyD, as I have photos of the Quegan family reunion this summer in Massachusetts, but it looks like he has not been on line since March.

I live in Massachusetts and my last name is Quagan.  Other relatives spell it Quegan.  Family hailed from Birr, County Offaly, arrived in Taunton, Massachusetts, USA around 1885.  I just stumbled upon this website, and I have my family back to Great-grandfather, James Quegan.  He came to Massachusetts with his brother, Patrick, and sister, Ellen.  The Quegan/Quagans are not all dead!  We had a big family reunion last Sunday!  I would love some help in further research, and would be happy to share mine.  Thank you!  Rosemary Quagan
