Hi DaltonBarnsley

Yes your right Gertrude and her husband Walter ran the Wortley Arms and my Dad remembers going. We even had a one point a Wortley Arms pub gravey boat. I do live relatively locally. Let me know how to contact you privately and we'll chat more

Hi Dalton Barnsley.
Small world isn't it. My Great Grandma was Gertrude or Great grandma Gert as I knew her. If you go to:
http://www.cemeteries.org.uk/ and pay for credits you get 50 for £3.50 and they last a week you'll find the burial records for the Wilkinson family and many of the Jessop family. Its an excellent site and has filled in many blanks for me.

Great to know there are more members of the family looking for them.

Thanks for replying to my question though.

I'm trying to find the name of a releative of Elizabeth Piercy Weeds NEE Dow who was alos known as Elizabeth Piercy Smith after the family changed their name and left Sunderland and moved to London. My mother remembers going to Morpeth in the 1950's to see 2 ladies who she thinks were called or had been called Easton and one of them had a son with them who she thinks was in his 40's or 50's.

I know its a long shot but if anyone can help I'd be grateful as she has no one else to ask.
Thanks

Durham Lookup Requests / Easton family in sunderland
« on: Tuesday 25 January 11 13:17 GMT (UK)  »
Please help!

I'm looking into the family of my Great great Grandma Eleanor Easton. I have here birth certificate and she was born in 1844 in Ballast hills, Bishopwearmouth, Sunderland. She was the daughter of James Easton and Jane Piercy . I am trying to find out about her siblings. From the census I've found a William Dowie Easton, James Easton and Elizabeth Easton. James died without children and William married twice and had lots of kids, and I can find no record of Elizabeth after 1851.

What is puzzeling me is that I've found the baptism of William Dowie on the 6 December 1834 in Newcastle to James and Jane Dowie, but I've also found the marriage of James Easton and Jane Piercy on the 2 Feb 1834 in Newcastle. So was James a bigamist or is one of the records wrong. Just to show I have the right Eleanor Easton her daughter had the middle name Piercy.

Can anyone offer any help please
Thanks PootleFlump :)

I'm looking in to the Weeds family in Norfolk especially Thorpe St Andrew. I know alot but I need to find out the following if anyone can help.
William Weeds married Sarah but I don't know her surname or where they married.
Edward Weeds and Charlotte (or mary charlotte) Voyce marriage.

I'm also looking for the christening record of my Grandpa Alan George Weeds. He was born in Tottington Vicarage on the 8th September 1914. I don't know if he was christened here as the family moved to Barkingside in Essex after his father returned for the war. If anyone has access to Tottington's records I would love to know if it was here or not. :)
