[i'm just answering your post i don't know how to use this but here goes,i have been researching this family with some others in australia, and we have found quite a bit ,but we have been researching alexander, donalds brother,he has been very hard to find because some of his sons were born after his death, any way have a look on a site, sketches of the old seats of families+ distinguished soldiers, connect with badenoch then the parrish of laggan, you have a bit more on donald in that he sailed to port philip in 1836 and the boats name but in the writings he was married to a may mc Intyre? any way alexanders wife flora came out to vic in 1852 and thats who we have been researching, old john 'ruadh was 82 when he died in 1844,so he had a good innings, anway if your interested in any more will try and answer as much as we have to date, have you found any more on donald in australia, hope this has helped in some way

Dear Chatters,
I was wondering if any one could help me look up these names and check if I have the correct information and maybe if I could find any information on the parents John Roy and Isabella Mackay. I have never researched in Scotland before and am not sure where to start. This information was kindly provided by another lady who is also researching this name and I would like to offer some kind of help back to her.
Donald MacPherson born 1 June 1811 in Lower Cluny, Laggan, Inverness, Scotland. His parents are Iain Ruadh (John Roy) MacPherson (1756) and Isabella Mackay (1756).
Donald MacPherson married Jane Campbell on 18 June 1826, Kingussie and Insh, Scotland.
Jane Campbell was born 25 April 1815 in Dell of Killhuntly, Kingussie, Scotland. Her parents are Donald Campbell and Ann McGregor.
Donald MacPherson departed from London on 14 August 1836 on the 376 tons vessel “Douglas”, arriving in Port Jackson on 6 December 1836.
Thankyou so much for your help
Cheers
Michelle ( in Australia)
