I have quite a few photos by J. C Wiepel West Maitland. Most of the photos are of family.

Wow. Thank you so much. I had got to the first page before and I did not realise there was the “next page” button up the top.
As you say it makes for interesting reading. It is amazing what they wrote about his wife.
When he came back he did not see his wife and had his war pension sent for his daughter. The daughter contacted him when she was 21 and he set her and her husband up in business on Magnetic Island.
All this new information explains a lot. No wonder he did not want to talk about things.

Terri

I would like to know if there is any information about my uncle in the war as he did not like to talk about it and said some things you would rather forget.
I think he was at Gallipoli and at some point was the driver for a general.
I will be happy with any information and help.

Thank you

Terri

Australia / Re: ALERT from a concerned JM
« on: Saturday 05 July 14 14:39 BST (UK)  »
I was worried about my mother answering the phone and changing her bank account to a better one the bank recommended. This mucked up all the automatic payments. I had to go to the bank and use power of attorney to fix up the mess.
We then got her an answering machine and said not answer the phone and to let whoever is ringing give a number and you can call back your friends and let us listen to any you do not know.
It has worked out a lot better.
All her friends and relatives know the arrangement and it works well.
There have been a lot of hang up calls when we visit so she is missing a lot of cold calling. Also as she is in her 90’s she is not tempted to rush to answer the phone.
One call she had on the answering machine was from “the taxation office” saying she had a refund.
I said no way would the taxation department be ringing to give you a refund..

I am sorry I am unable to help you but if you put up a copy of the photo on the “Date and Restore Photographs”  section you may get more information about the date of the photo and possible ages of the people that may help you.

Good luck
Terri

Thank you Yvonne

That was so thoughtful of you to do a cleanup.
Before and after but also now a nice photo of how the original would have looked before it got grubby with age.
I had already printed the original and now having printed your copy I can see what you have done.
The cleanup looks as it should so it is not fully appreciated until you see the original next to it.
Very well done.

Many thanks

Thank you Chinakay
The  eyes are done very nicely.

Thank you Carolyn
Thank you for taking the time to colour the photo of Ada.
I am very happy to have such lovely photos. They will all be appreciated.
There is such a difference in colour and they all have a different mood.
It is amazing that with each different colour of the dress you feel you can see the dress made of a different fabric. Something I had not thought of before.
I now notice more of the detail.
I have printed the photo and it looks very nice and I will take them to my mother later today.

Many thanks

Terri

Thank you Caroline

This is amazing.
It all works so well together. The detail of what is on the pedestal and fan is great with the pink flowers softening the dress.
I have also printed this photo to give to my mother.
With the colour photos I gave my mother previously of her grandmother she put one up in a frame at a time and every week or so changes the photo so she enjoys them all one at a time. I enjoy seeing which is on display when I visit.
I will get another frame for these photos so she can have the pleasure of looking and appreciating each of them.
Many thanks

Regards

Terri
