If she moved to Australia from the UK you could try looking for her passenger details on findmypast

Hi Gem,

There only seems to be one Charles Jones born in Dumfries in the 1950s, 1959 to be precise, and also a death of a Charles Jones aged 0, in Dumfries in 1960. In order to verify that this is the right person, you'd have to order the birth and death certificates from

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

as these records are not online

Hi Paul :)

I'm assuming you have his death cert, which should hopefully provide at least his fathers name?  ???

I also saw the link to the Scotfamtree website and wondered if anyone had any experience of this?  It's £10 to join

Hi  ;)

At the moment there's a special offer on and  it's actually only £8 to join! ;) Definitely well worth it!

Hi Annamay,
If you suspect that the marriage was in Scotland between 1942/1949, you would either have to order the certificate from The General Register Office for Scotland, Office  HERE (which would probably cost in excess of £13, as a search would have to be conducted) or a cheaper option would be a transcription which could be done by the Scotfamtree website, who visit the records office approx 4 times per year. The transcription would only be a few £s. They specialise in all Scottish genealogy. (You'll have to register first)

Good luck! ;)
