Thanks very much everyone.  I'm really grateful for your assistance.

I have found a death for a Mary Matilda Collins 10/03/1942 in the US, but have no idea if this is likely to be the Mary I'm looking for.  Emigration may explain why I can't find any English records of her after her marriage.

Is this her in 1911 Camberwell living with her Aunt /Uncle -William Pitt & Elizabeth Ann Collins

Pure speculation but perhaps her future husband also in Camberwell 1911 (Born 1887)

Yes, I believe this is her.  Her mother died in 1910, so this may have caused her to move away from her step-father to her Aunt & Uncle's

I am aware that Mary Matilda (1894) married a Raymond Alfred Perkins, born 1864 in July 1918 in Lambeth, but after the marriage I can find no trace of either person on electoral rolls, census, death records etc.  I also can't find any birth records for children that Matilda and Raymond may have had.

The bridegroom in 1918 was plain Raymond Perkins, according to FreeBMD.  Where do you find his middle name Alfred?  Are you sure he was born in 1864, so some 30 yrs older than Mary Matilda?

My Great Aunt was Mary Matilda Collins, born 28/11/1894.  Her mother was also Mary Matilda Collins, born 1875, died 1910.

Can anybody else find them anywhere, I wonder whether they may have emigrated?

Thanks
Ted

Does anybody know of the Waterford Association in London?

Mr Grandfather was a member many years ago and I have a photograph (that includes me) of a party my sisters and I attended back in the late 1960's.

According to the death certificate of my GGM (Mary Matilda Collins 1875-1910), she and my GGF lived at 58 East Street in Walworth.  She died in 1910.  I've looked at the Electoral Roll for 1910 (and 1909) but the people shown living at 58 East Street have no link to my family.

In 1911, my GGF (John Joseph Stammers 1874-1968) is shown on the census as living at 36 Dartnell Road, Camberwell - he is also shown at Dartnell Road in the 1909 Electoral Roll, but not in 1910.

So I'm confused.  I would appreciate any help?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

As a matter of interest, I was going through some of my Grandparents old photographs and found the one below which includes my Grandfather.  Prior to marrying my Grandmother he worked as a hospital porter at (I think) St. Thomas's Hospital in Bermondsey.  This particular photograph shows him in the second row, the man on the left.  I think this photograph is probably from the mid-1930's.

What is more interesting, is the tall guy in the back row.  In my opinion, he is the same chap that is shown in the group photo that I first posted (on the left of all the ladies).  There are some others in the photograph including my Grandfather who also look familiar from the older group photograph.

It is entirely possible, that my Grandfather met my Grandmother through working with my Great Grandmother at the hospital.

Anyway, I think that solves the location and I would estimate the date of the original photographs to be mid 1920's, based on the aging of the tall guy.

Good morning,

Is anybody able to help me identify where this photograph might have been taken and perhaps a rough date?

One of the ladies in the photographs is my Great Grandmother Lilian Rhoda Burnett (married in 1945 and became Martin).  As far as I know, Lilian lived her life in the Bermondsey area of London.  She gave birth to my GM in 1917 at a home for unmarried mothers (Shirley Road in Croydon).  From the photo's I assume that she is working in some kind of laundry, perhaps a workhouse or hospital laundry.

Any assistance you can give would be much appreciated.

Warm regards
Steve
