Thanks Pat and Photofixer for your enhancements - much appreciated.  The originals were quite black and barely discernible so even scanning them was an improvement somewhat.  Must have been a quirky thing they did then to put on metal.

Many thanks.

Maxe.

Very poor quality tin photo circa 1926, England.  Billie, Eileen and Winifred Holland.  And further very poor - but think Billie in pram.  Wonder if some enhancement can be made of at least one of them!

Don't seem to have the knack of getting smaller photos...but hopefully someone can look at it and perhaps will try and get smaller versions...

Many thanks.

A further addendum to previous message was that he received Star, Victory medal and British War Medal. (source UK Naval Medal and Award Rolls).  One would presume he had completed his tour of duty to obtain these.

Thanks

Hi there and thank you for that information.  The logs made interesting reading and went through to see if there was any mention of my ancestor.  His name was Henry Charles Donovan.
The information is attached with the Reference:   ADM 240/40/728.

Thanks

Trying to find more information on an ancestor who served.  Some detail has been found to the fact that he was Engineer Sub-Lieutenant (Temp).  It mentions A.M.C. "Orcoma" - not sure what the letters stand for.  He seemed to be only limited in his role but the record only gives that his commission was cancelled possibly by him.

Thanks.

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: Baptism - Birkenhead - Egremont

Hi, the birth record says Wallasey/Wirral on Cheshire BMD (I have misplaced the certificate).  I also went by the parents' marriage as being St Johns, Egremont, so sorry was a bit hit and miss.  I thought I remembered Birkenhead from another certificate of another ancestor.  I guess the Wirral Archives would be the best to follow up.

Thanks.

Thanks Janette, Suzy and Kiwihalfpint for further thoughts re this and is something to follow up on as a possibility.  Unfortunately just a bit hard to go back to this or concentrate too much as with some of you may  possibly live in Christchurch as I do so things have just put on the back burner at the moment, but appreciate all the time and effort.

THANK YOU Spades and everyone for your help - If indeed this is the ancestor in question (and I hope it is for everyone's sake!) but if not, I  have picked up some useful sites and information.
I am patient Spades...as I haven't had any/much information in the past and have gained quite a bit in these postings which I certainly didn't have before.
Regards.
Max.
p.s.  the lemon squeezer hats...certainly interesting - and unique ..
