Thank you all so far, this is all really interesting.

My father in law has said that Herbert was about 5-6 when Lily Baker (his mother) was born but I think he could be wrong from looking at all the replys. He doesn't know an awful lot regarding his family.

Please keep posting I will look into all.

Hi all,

Trying to find details of a Herbert Wood b. Around 1906 mum either surname Large or Baker. Possibly Kent area.

Half brother to Lily Baker b. 1912, Kent. Possibly another sister named Elsie.

Lily's Father - Baker
Lily's Mother - Large

Lily Baker married Edward Aylett b. 1907

No other details known.

Thank you in advance

Leicestershire / Selina Stenson
« on: Sunday 12 October 14 16:31 BST (UK)  »
One I have been struggling with for a while!!

Selina Stenson b 1835/36 married William Davy aged 19 in 1854. He unfortunately died aged 34.

Selina Davy then married John Blagg in 1962 from what I understand is that he then deserted her 4 month later?? anyone able to clarify??

In 1871 I have found a census showing Letina (selina) married to a Jacob Booth and have 2 children named Kate and Emily, with Mary Ann being a lodger?? However this is Selina's other daughter with William??

In later Census she is back being Selina Blagg??

I am just confused with Selina and hoping someone is able to give me the information and clarity I need to move forward.

Many Thanks in advance.

Family History Beginners Board / Lynn - Army WW2
« on: Sunday 14 September 14 20:20 BST (UK)  »
Bit of a long shot. Not sure where to start.

I am looking for a man called Lynn, who was born in Wales around 1910 who joined the army and was stationed out of Cumbria in March/April/May of 1944.

Have a feeling he could have been in the Royal Artillery at Liverpool. Was working out of Workington, Cumbria around the time I am looking for. I do not have surname.

If anyone can help please let me know.

Thank you

Thank you both.

Didn't even think that Charlotte could have been the mother. She was a witness at thomas and Mary Ellen's wedding.

That's the one (marriage)

On the marriage cert it doesn't say fathers name there is a blank. I'm assuming that Frank/Francis is the father as in 1881 and 1891 census she is granddaughter to Franks parents.

Hmmmm just so strange she didn't have parents on marriage cert. she's also Ellen Martin in 1891 census. Stuck on this one. Maybe have to buy birth cert. just takes ages to get through.

Thank you so far :-)
