Thanks for the understanding Moderator.

I just posted my response before I read your own observation.

Am looking forward to moving into more family information in the time ahead...but for now must sign off as it is definitely time to retire, given the hour at my current point on the globe!

Regards

Oh dearie me.

Perhaps my personal style of communication in that particular moment gave rise to a misunderstanding or misinterpretation.

Meaning, by way of explanation and enlightenment... that my intuition, or rather my slight suspicion, at the time of writing that post, transpired to have much veracity... namely, the member in question, by an amazing coincidence of timing is a direct member of my own ancestral family, we are already very well known to one another, have met in person despite living thousands of miles apart and are in fairly frequent communication outside of this forum, about, among other matters, our family tree. A tree, which of course, I immediately recognized in the thread, and hence permitted myself to become a trifle animated with excitement.

Regrets if I have somehow inadvertently and unintentionally offended your, or anyone else's, personal sensibilities.

Be well.

Regards

David

Hi there....I've just joined up and found this thread on the Mairs and/or Mayrs of Crosscandley...which, is....'us!!  i.e. that's my last name and enough work has been done by 'us' to recognise the family tree mentioned here.

So...first of all....who are you and/or do I already know you?!

Kev,

Fascinating!

My father started his first job, as an apprentice, at Crockett & Guy in, best I can tell, 1928, and worked there for approx., 21 years....again, best I can tell.

He then spent his entire life in the hardware retail business....moving on to Coleraine and later to Ballymena.

He died in 1987.

Let me know what I might have to do to get a copy of that image you have! AND....that apart, have you a scan copy 'up' on line anywhere? Clearly, unless you know of another source, I would be very happy to have a good copy!

With thanks

David
