New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Timaru departures
« on: Friday 26 November 10 09:12 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks guys, I have Louisa's BC and the trip on the Carisbrooke Castle.

My main question is how did they get from Timaru to Newcastle (the birthplace of my father & his father). As I mentioned in the OP, there are dates bookending the trip - ie Louisa's birth in NZ and another in Newcastle. I've tried arrivals in Aus, no joy there! There aren't any online records of arrivals that I've been able to find.

Appreciate your searching.

Thanks, John.

Yet again - the Hough marriage is for someone else entirely. This Annie is far too young to my girl.

Thanks, anyway!

@ Clarah,

Let us know how things turn out ... when you eventually get the certificate, that is ;)

3 weeks turnaround is a right pain, true! Not much that can be done about it though!

Back again ... this time from home where I have all my records.

As far as we have been able to ascertain, she married again under her maiden name in Newcastle.
3014/1869      HUGHES      ROBERT      MATTHEWS      ANN      NEWCASTLE

I haven't got either MC to check the familyl details, but will order them both to see. Thanks for assistance.

Cheers
John

NSW BDM search for John  Murphy deaths between 1900 and 1960 gives just one where the father's given name was Christopher.

The link would be to  http://www.rootschat.com/links/09v3/

(if that link doesn't work, PM me and I'll see what else I can do)
Cheers

Hey, Debra.

Thanks for your interest, but no, that's not her. I'm at work at the moment (and don't have access to all the details) but will check when I get a chance at home, and post more details.

Cheers

Unfortunately, with the NSW BDM, the only way to get more than is available from the item listing (which you obviously have) is to pay for the certificate. I have some "spares" of certificates I bought to check, and found they were not relevant to my family search.

OK, it costs a tiny bit, but the result might be valuable and - worst case is that you end up with a certificate you don't need.

Hang on to it, you might be able to help someone with it later.
Cheers

Even more interesting is that my father and mother still live in Bendemeer (he was teacher there until his retirement some years ago). If the family still lives around there, Dad might know them.

Cheers
