Durham Completed Look up Requests / Re: 1861 Lookup request Durham
« on: Monday 03 January 05 02:37 GMT (UK)  »
John,

YOU ARE MY SAVIOR !!!

I was searching for the information you gave me for months.
I'm French (nobody's perfect  ;), and it is not so easy to get information from the other side of the Channel.
I have two questions for you (sorry for the quizz, nothing to win  :(
- Where did you find this information (in a local archive center, CD-ROM, Internet...)
- Do you have any reproduction of it (image, scan....) ?

Anyway, thank you again for this.

If you ever need something in France... I'm your man !

Best wishes for 2005

Greg

Hi,

I'm desperatly searching for this family :
The 1st april of 1862, their daughter Isabel was born at 128 High Conside, Conside & Knistley, and the parents of Deborah (Richard and Isabella Pratt) seem to lived in the surroundings at that time

Thomas Halliday (or Holliday), 25-30, born Cumberland, metal refiner
Deborah Elizabeth Halliday, about 25, born Birtley
Thomas Halliday, 7, born Lanchester
William Halliday, 1-3, born Port-Clarence

Thanks in advance

Completed Census Requests / 1861 Durham (and maybe Yorkshire) look-up request
« on: Saturday 17 July 04 06:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm desperatly searching for these families for months :

Thomas Halliday, 25, born in Cumberland
Deborah Halliday (formerly Pratt) , 25, born in Birtley, Durham
Thomas, 7, born in Lanchester, Durham

Maybe William (not sure), less than one year

They lived 43 High Conside (Conside & Knitsley, actually Consett) in 1854
In 1881, their son William appeared as born around 1861 in Port-Clarence (or Billingham in 1891 !)

Richard Pratt, 62, born in Sedbusk, Yorkshire
Isabella Pratt, 51, born in reeth, Yorkshire
William, 19, born in Birtley, Durham
Isabella, 14, born in Lanchester, Durham
Richard, 12, born in Lanchester, Durham

They lived 239 Berry Edge (Conside) in 1851
Their daughter Deborah (who married Halliday) lived 43 High Conside in 1854 (see before)
Their son Isiah, 26, lived 52 Consett in 1861 with his sister Mary A.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice
Best Regards

Jim,

I'm very garteful to you to provide me this information.
I'm not yet sure if it's my Thomas, but he sure could be.

In effect, Thomas (son) married in 1854. Do you know many cases of marriages at 15-16 ?
Anyway, it could be true, cause on the marriage certificate he is minor.
But his father is indicated as "metal refiner' and not shoe maker....
But the marriage was made in Newcastle (the bride lived in Durham) while she was pregnant.
Do you think it would be a good reason to marry in another county and for the father to give a different job ?

I continue searching but your help opens a desperatly closed door.

Thank you very much for this precious info.
