Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: Lewes Lookup Pls? - John Delves
« on: Sunday 11 October 09 06:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi Deb,
The brothers and sisters of John Delves (baptised 28 Mar 1819 at St Mary Magdalene Wartling) are
Elizabeth Baptised 11 Nov 1804
Louisa Bap 21 Dec 1806
Harry Bap 17 Sep 1809
Mary Ann 9 Jul 1815
Jane Bap 28 May 1822

Have you checked out the Non conformist Registers for Worthing yet? I am still a bit hung up on the fact that all of my family records state that he was born in Worthing Sussex. I was looking at an article from 'The Methodist'  -'In Memoriam- Mr. John Delves'  and I quote ' JohnDelves was born at Worthing in Sussex England January 21st 1819, came to Sydeny in 1838,settling there for one year, being in the employ of Messers. Lamb and Co.
I have been looking at records in the Worthing area for the last 20 years and still haven't found what should be obvious given that I have so many references to his birth date and place

Thanks for the information about Boher. Where would the locals have gone to register a birth, marraige or death? Is Boher a part of a larger parish?  I am not sure which area/parish/church to start looking for further information about the REGAN family.

Hi,
Does anyone have any information about Boher Limerick? One of my ancestors Michael REGAN listed this as his birth place on his shipping record. I would love to know more about this town/village?

Thanks

Limerick / REGAN family research
« on: Friday 17 July 09 01:33 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I am trying to find out any information about MICHAEL REGAN who immigrated to Australian NSW on the Star of Brunswick age 23 in 1865. He lived and farmed in the Doyles Creek/Jerrys Plains area of NSW. On his death certificate I calulated that he was born approx 1843. There is different information about where he was born. On his death certificate his birth place was St Clair Ireland, on his immigration record it listed Boher Limerick. The informat on his death certificate was his brother in law, who may have the place incorrect. Any one who has any information about the REGAN family in NSW Australia. I would appreciate any assistance.

Thanks

Sussex / DELVES research
« on: Friday 17 July 09 01:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I am researching the DELVES family of Sussex. According to family oral information JOHN DELVES was born in Worthing 1819. I have recently found JOHN DELVES baptised on 28 March 1819 in Wartling East Sussex. I believe that this is the ancestor I have been looking for. His father was JOHN DELVES and his mother was MARY. I know for sure that there were connections with the CROUCH family of Catsfield as he immigrated with them and later married Charlotte CROUCH. Any further information about JOHN DELVES I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks

Sussex Lookup Requests / John Delves -I think I've found him!
« on: Monday 06 July 09 13:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi Deb, I read your post only recently and was excited to find someone else who was looking for John Delves born 1819 in Sussex and was also having touble finding him. My dad told me that the family farmed around the Battle/Hasting district so I moved my search to that area. I found a John Delves baptised 28 MAr 1819 in Wartling East Sussex (in the Rape of Hastings). His parents names - John and Mary fit with the names I had. Also his fathers occupation was listed as a 'labourer in husbandry. As John later farmed and ran dairy cows in the Manning district in Taree I think his father occupation fits well.
I also found five siblings whose names are also the names of John Delves's children. What do you think? :)
