World War One / Re: No WW1 Medal Card for Thomas Crawford

Hi
He was on the Adriatic but I don't think it was at war time, I was only saying that it was another ship he was suppose to be on.

Cheers

World War One / Re: W.O. on a WW1 Medal Card?

Hi
Thanks for the reply.

As it happens it is his birthday today born 17th September 1894. He also served in the 2nd World War but between the wars he worked for Cunard. After the 2nd World War he carried on working with Cunard. He eventually had a job working at the Cunard building, Liverpool.

You can find the ships he was on on Ellis Island. On one Ships Manifest it shows 785690 and where he previously lived at 37 Empire Road, Litherland, Liverpool.

The attached photo shows a photographers name, any idea who it is?

Cheers

Colin

Hi
I don't know his official number sorry, as far as I can remember his number wasn't on his medals.

He was born at Brownlow Hill Workhouse in Liverpool in 1871 then he disappeared with his mother until he turned up again in about 1895 -1896.

The only other ship I know of is the Adriatic but which one?

Attached photo shows Thomas Crawford on the left but don't know who the other guy is.

Any help would be great.

Cheers

Colin

World War One / No WW1 Medal Card for Thomas Crawford
« on: Saturday 16 September 17 22:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi
My other Great Grandfather Thomas Crawford who was born in Liverpool in 1871 served on a Merchant Cruiser called SS Ottway which was converted to an armed Merchant Cruiser. That meant it was now HMS Ottway but I can not find his medal card despite seeing his medals.

Why or where would I find it please?

Cheers

World War One / W.O. on a WW1 Medal Card?
« on: Saturday 16 September 17 22:22 BST (UK)  »
Hi
My Great Grandfathers WW1 Medal Card has W.O. next to British Medal issued, what does it mean? I have looked on National Archives where I downloaded it from but I find their website too complicated to navigate and find information.

Also what do the numbers mean top right and there looks an 'X' above Certif?

Cheers
