Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: School registers-Brighton

Hello Lindsey,
Thanks for that. I do have all the details of Alfreds death and I also have his medals and some other documents. I have also visited his grave. As I cannot account for him and his brother William also mother Charlotte in 1891 and  1901 I was just hoping that maybe they were still in Brighton and went to school there. I can only assume that she was with someone else under his name and maybe her place of birth was somewhere different. I know that Alfred was in London before 1909 and Charlotte was there in 1918. If you have any more information I would really appreciate it.
regards
Pat

He was a riverside labourer. The institution is another thought. I will see if I can find any either in Sussex, Kent or Canning Town.

Hello Jane,
I did see the entry you mentioned and had much the same thoughts as you but again where were Alfred and William who would have been 10 and 7.The marriage you found is correct but Charlotte died in 1940 at Canning Town. I do have her death certificate. The first time I found her after 1881 was in 1918 in Canning Town which is where Alfred was living.
Thanks for all your help

Hello Roy,
The Message on C Fox was from me. As you are in Budapest I am sure you know how difficult it is trying to find out information and how grateful we are to others who happily help us. If i find anythin else out I will post it on here. In the meantime, thanks again

Thanks for that Roy. I think it is probably me on Genes and yes I have been in touch with the others. I also know that his brother John Alfred was in the army in 1891 and also the one you found in 1901 is him also. I am in contact with his grandaughter and we have met often as we both live in France. Also Charles was with his father in 1891and he married in Brighton in 1901. I will try all the different combinations of the names you suggested and see if I find anything. many thanks again Roy.

Please can anyone help? I am trying to trace the whereabouts of my Grandfather Alfred Dorrington who was born in Brighton in 1881 and I have him in 1881 census as Darrington. In 1891 his father John is still in brighton with another woman (Mary) as his wife although he was still married to my Great Grandmother Charlotte. I have no trace of her or Alffred and his younger brother William until 1909. I wondered if there are school admission records which would show if he was still in Brighton then. He was in Franklin Street in 1881.
Thanks Pat
