Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Photo on Metal Plate?
« on: Sunday 04 October 09 19:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I have recently aquired a photo on a metal plate that I would be interested to know more about. The photo shows a man, women and young child, the location is not obviuos though could be on the beach. Why has the phot been printed on the metal and what date could it be from?
I think it could be about 1880 onwards though I am not sure, the people in it don't tie to any other phots I have though look very similar - the child could be someone who I have many photos of though it may again not be!
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Look up request London
« on: Saturday 04 July 09 12:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I have a marriage 01.06.1799 Saint Lawrence Jewry And Saint Mary Magdalene Milklondont, London of a Richard Carruthers to and Ann Bird Emmerson(found on the IGI from Family Search, however I can not find any record of withers parents as there are too many to work out the correct ones! Hence this has become a bit of a dead end!

As I can not get to London to look at the marraige record at all, I would appreciate it if anyone who was going to the relevent record office (I am not sure which as I can not tell from the page itself but here is a link to it: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp) if they could very kindly look at the records for me.
Thanks

Hi
Thanks for that I will have a look at that site now. As mentioned above a marriage was found by ShaunJ in Chiswick of a thomas Bell Carruthers and cecilia lydia which seems to fit as all their children were born after this date. However I would REALLY appreciate it if yo could look to see if there is any records of Thomas Bell's birth as I still don't know when or where he was born - the unfortunate thing is that it might not be Swansea. Please only do so if you have finished what you aim to do first!
Thank you

Hi all,
Thanks for all your comments they have been really helpful!
the f carruthers mentioned seems to fit the dates of one of the people in the tree.. another Forrest I think, so that information mentioned would be really appreciated!
Also I have been tracing the parents of George Gordon and Forrest Priest Carruthers who are a Thomas Bell Carruthers and Cecilia Lydia Priest. I have seen the request mentioned about them in another post, and having traced them on ancestry have only found Cecilia Lydia in all but the 1841 census never with Thomas, only their children - is it possible that he too was a master mariner? Unfortunatly due to not finding him on any other records I have no idea of his birth date/place - though his wife cecilia was born in London abt 1817.
Any ideas would be really appreciated
Thanks

Occupation Interests / Master Mariners - CARRUTHERS
« on: Thursday 25 June 09 21:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am trying to trace master mariners: Geroge Gordon Carruthers, Forrest Priest Carruthers, and George Charles Carruthers all of whom are based around the Swansea area. All three are also on the Llyods shipping registar but i am struggling to trace their ships. I have found Forest and George with Minero in Swansea records, and Abyssina with a George Carruthers, and a ETA with a George G Carruthers but no other information. Any ideas on where to try for more about them or their ships?

The Common Room / Carruthers Master Seamen
« on: Thursday 25 June 09 20:49 BST (UK)  »
hi
I was wondering if you would mind telling me the name of your master seamen Carruthers as I too have some and am finding it hard to trace them.
(mentioned in  Re: June 2005 RootsChat Challenge)
My experience of ship & boat owners is to keep it in the family.

My Carruthers who where Master Seamen, coastal traders and a harbour master and the like all seemed marry with families of the same names connections to shipping.

 ;D

Thanks
