Thanks for that Isles

I may have been following back the wrong Robert Lownie

Perhaps I need to revisit starting with my father James Munro Lownie born 4/12/1909 in Dundee ...he had 2 brothers and 1 sister ( she died quite young )

Their Father was James Lownie and he married Mathilda May

one more detail ....I have in my documents a DOB for Robert Lownie as 17 Jul 1855...but this is so close I have to assume you have hit on the right one !

Thanks Monica & Isles

I think this is probably the correct Robert Lownie although I have him as born 1855 but I can't remember where I got that from ....probably the marriage details ...he married an Annie Munro and I do not have a date for that either.

Perhaps I got the DOB from his son's birth details ( my Grandfather James Lownie )  ....that's more likely.

Monica, 1831 I assume is a census year and Robert would be 13 so perhaps he had left to work elsewhere ?

Thanks for the info on Margaret Isles ....is that as far back as records go ?

I have a Robert Lownie who married an Annie Munro and they would be born around the 1850s or 60s I think
Robert had a brother John and their Mother was Margaret Lownie

I can find no information on Margaret on who she was married to or if she was married.

She was from Gourdon or Bervie

If you can shed any light on the above I would be grateful

Perhaps the Bervonian can help ....how do I get in touch with him ?
