Here in the US we have many of our pioneer cemeteries in the same condition.  There are now several volunteer organizations that have formed who have taken on the cause of restoring these cemeteries and their stones.  They find cemeteries, contact the owners and obtain permission to work on the cemetery and the stones.  The main reason here for the deplorable condition of our pioneer cemeteries is basically lack of money.  There's where the volunteer efforts help so much.  They collect donations and many of the volunteers use their own money to buy the supplies like the stone patch to fix broken stones, the cleaners, etc.  That might be something y'all can do out there.  :-)  It's well worth the effort.

I would suggest you go to findagrave.com

I looked up the cemetery and here's what it is listed as on Findagrave:
Beckenham Cemetery and Crematorium
Also known as: Beckenham Crematorium & Cemetery, Elmers End Cemetery

Below is a link direct to this cemetery through findagrave.com.  You can create a memorial for your family member and once that is done you can click on the button that says REQUEST A PHOTO.  Volunteers in that area will go to that cemetery, find the grave and take a photo of it if there is a stone and then they will post it on the memorial you created.  Make sure you set up your profile to notify you when a photo has been posted to your memorials.  If you need help figuring out how to do this ... just send me all the information and I'll be happy to post it on your behalf.  I've had lots of success here in the US getting photos of family stones all around the country.

What has helped me in the past is taking a sheet of paper and chalk or a piece of charcoal or even a wide lead pencil and gently rubbing the chalk over the paper ... the letters will not be filled in ... do not press too hard or you will fill in where the letters are because they are not deep anymore.  It's worth a try anyway.

I don't know if this will help at all ... but have you tried Findagrave.com??  I know it requires someone else to have entered the burial information but here in the US many folks go to cemeteries and take photos and write down the information on the stones and then post them on Findagrave.com for that cemetery.  I have done this as a volunteer for Findagrave.com and have listed many stones that are not my relation.  It might be worth a look anyway.

Lisa ... I would also be interested in getting in touch with you to share information.  I don't have much on the Cliffords as my main connection would be Chartier who married into the Clifford family.  I have recently come in contact with a Clifford who is looking for more information and I'd love to be able to share information with him and from him.

Sara ... I've seen bits and pieces of your tree and I think we are related.  I am connected via Minnie Clifford who married Marshall Chartier.  She is the daughter of John Bennett Clifford and Della LaForce.  I'd like to get together and share some information.  I see we need three posts before being allowed to send a PM so I'll try to write two more :-)
