Wiltshire / Re: RAWLINS: South Wiltshire 1770-1830 (Earldoms and Landford)

Have checked my records Whiteparish/Landford/Sherfield English and my Tree - unfortunately no Jane Rawlins(ings) as such - Did see the marriage you mention in Downton Marriage Files.  I have checked my Ancestry.co.uk and there is one family that does have a Jane Rawlins married to a John Moody - Jane  born 28 Aug 1792 Downton - however, i cannot substantiate this via the online DOWNTON baptism records and i don't have the microfiche for Downton.  Sorry not to be of more help - but good luck.

Dorset Lookup Requests / Re: Annetts 1901 help please
« on: Friday 10 February 12 03:56 GMT (UK)  »
date today is 10 Feb 2012 - the heading suggests that 1901 was the original posting - but, i too am researching these families.   Frederick George Emberly-Annets born 30 Sep 1902 to Annie ANNETTS in Poole Dorset he married Ivy DIBBEN in 1927 and had three children from this marriage - the third child Eileen Ivy May Emberley being my Aunt by marriage.  I however, seem to have picked up a lot more children than quoted in some of the replies and they are as follows:-

children purported to be the children of Edwin Emberley and Annie Annetts -

Edith Victoria Emberley-Annetts - 1897-1910
Queenie Emberley-Annetts - 1897-1898
Grace Emberley-Annetts - 1898-1941
Arthur Edwin Emberbely-Annetts - 1900-1984
Violet May Emberley-Annetts - 1901-1969
Frederick George Emberley-Annetts 1902-1973 - (married under the name EMBERLEY
Doris Daisy Emberley-Annetts - 1903-1976
Edwin Emberley-Annetts - 1906
Gladys Jessie Emberley Annetts - 1908
and
Edith Mary Emberley-Annetts - 1911

The 1911 Census - All names have the name EMBERLEY in them and the surname is ANNETTS (6 children in all on this Census)  The Census also states Annie Annetts was born in Reading - but, i cannot find any records - so will check out the other names suggested in prior posts.

I have Annie Annetts death certificate - and it states she died 6th July 1936 - Herrison, Charminster Road ages 65 - Spinster and states her the daughter of EDWIN JOHN Annetts - Farm Laboourer - she died of Bronchial Pneumonia and Cardiovascular degeneration.

Like everyone else this has me intrigued - and i would love to solve the mystery of  Emma Annie Friend demise.

So if anyone has done more research on this family - i'd appreciate any help i can get - as i am not stumped.

Thanks

Jacqui

Entries for “RAWLINS” from the Landford Parish Registers 1770-1830, filmed by the LDS

Thank you for all this information on the Rawlins - however, one query

Maria   daughter   of   Robert   and   Ann   Rawlins
Born   4   September   1811
Baptised   6   October   1811

Maria   daughter   of   Robert   and   Ann   Rawlins
Born   31   October   1811
Baptised   25   December   1811

There seems to be a double entry for what looks like the same child - are you able to tell me which might be the correct one please.

Nell,

Many thanks for your comprehensive answer.   It doesn't look as though any of the Joseph MOODY's you mention fit my bill.

So, i am off to check more surrounding areas.

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / West Tytherley, Hampshire, UK
« on: Sunday 14 June 09 01:33 BST (UK)  »
A Joseph MOODY married a Mary BELL in Sherfield English in 1751 - a daughter Mary born 1753 Sherfield English - Joseph died in 1757 Sherfield English - However, I have found a  Joseph Moody in IGI born around 1755 in West Tytherley - but without a Mother's name. West Tytherley is only 4.8miles from Sherfield English - so it could be plausible that Joseph snr had work there.
Mary remarried - and I have a "loose" Joseph that i cannot give parents to and wonder if Joseph Moody being only a couple of years old when his mother remarried took on the name LONG - any help would be appreciated as this brick wall is giving me a headache  :(
