Banffshire / Re: Woods (Doo) in Banff

Just come across your post. Most of the Woods like every fisherman that were taken into the town were settled in Scotstoun. That is the row of small houses on the shoreline west of Banff harbour and extending to Banff Links. From there they prospered with the herring fishing and moved to the Battery Green,Old Bartlett Place,Banff,  area. The Wood families split over religious differences with most of them having fishing boats the records of which can be found in 'Steam Drifters Recalled - Whitehills to St.Combs'. Or you can try the Buckie Fisherie Museum.

Antrim / Robert McKeen or McKean
« on: Tuesday 09 November 10 17:08 GMT (UK)  »
I seek inforfmation on a Robert McKeen or McKean, Born abt 1835,Antrim.
First appeared 1859 in Ayr,Ayrshire,Scotland,as a policeman on marriage to a Jane Drennan.
He gave his parents as William John McKeen and Jane White. His father's profession as farmer.
All records forwards from his aforementioned marriage in 1859 are traced & he died in Ayr.
On one police application form he gave his birth place as "around Antrim".
Research from Essex,England, has revealed nothing and this is my last hope.
