Kent Lookup Requests / Re: William Edwards, Maidstone, Kent 1600's

Not sure I'm related to the Conneticut group. I believe my Edwards line lived in Dutchess County, NY before 1760. They were most likely descendants of original settlers of Long Island. After 1784 we're well documented in Fulton and Montgomery counties.

That is interesting. Hugh and Wynefred are both very Welsh names. The William Edwards I'm looking for may have been a son of Rhychyrd Edwardes from Wales. Maybe Hugh and William are relatives.

James Edwards,

Have you done any DNA testing ?
FamilyTree-DNA calculates I have an 88% British Isles ancestry and my DNA type is present in Kent, England. The only person I match is a Scotsman with the last name Gregg. (Not enough Edwardses have tested.)
My Edwards branch has moved around in New York State since the 1600's. But our family history is only verified back to 1799. Descendants of those original Long Island settlers have scattered far and wide, and I think only DNA could prove who's related to who today.

Are pictures of Edwards gravestones available ? Do you know if they were relatives of Owen Morgan Edwards or his son Ifan ? How old is this cemetery ?

Scintilla,

Thanks for the look up. 1607 matches my William's approximate birthdate.
Don't know about a father named Hugh or a sister Elizabeth.

One account has it my William and his mother moved to Massachusetts after his father's death. Early records of East Hampton, Long Island mention Maidstone, Kent having been William's home city. Other accounts say William was already married when he moved to New England.

I did bump into a parish removal record on-line of a Rhychyrd Edwardes (in St Aslaph?) who was  the right age to be William's father. This spelling of Richard seems Welsh. Maybe this Richard was moving from Wales to Kent at that time.

Looking for information on William Edwards who emigrated to America in the early 1600's. He is said to have lived in Maidstone, Kent. One record suggest his father was Richard Edwards of unknown city in Wales.

Merionethshire / Edwards Family from Llanuwchllyn

I am looking for information on any Edwards family from LLanuwchllyn area. My line moved to Dutchess County, New York prior to 1753, and then to Fulton County, NY until now. Prior to that our bunch may have settled in East Hampton, Long Island circa 1640.
We have no paper trail to Wales or UK. However, several males in my family resemble pictures of Owen Morgan Edwards (1858-1920) of Llanuwchllyn.
Anyone wishing to compare DNA results, I am on FamilyTreeDNA as Talmadge Edwards. Note I have some atypical markers including DYS455=10. So far I've found only one close match to a Scotsman named Gregg(36 of 37 markers, including the odd 455=10).
If there's a descendant of O.M. Edwards who has had DNA testing I would very much like to hear from them.
