Lancashire Lookup Requests / Darwen Electoral Roll Lookup please
« on: Saturday 04 July 09 00:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
If any kind person has access to the Darwen register of electors or is going to Darwen library I would be grateful for a lookup of the electoral rolls for 65 Exchange Street Darwen for the period 1943-53. I'm after info on whether my Gt Aunt Annie Hudson b. Darwen 1921 was still resident over this period and when she moved/married.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Many thanks
Andrew

Library and FHS Lookups / Re: Lancashire Records Office.

Hi Dotty,
I hope you can help on your next trip to the records office. I'm after info from the Darwen electoral roll (if LRO hold it) for the period 1943-1953 concerning my Gt Aunt. Her name is Annie Hudson b.1921 and she was resident at 65 Exchange Street, Darwen in November 1943, when she was the informant for her fathers death. Unfortunately contact was lost with her and I don't know if/when she married or what her married name might be.
I'm hoping that by finding the date she was last known at Exchange Street I may be able to work out a married name from the registers then try to find her from there.
Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
Andrew

Thanks, Lisa. I'll have to look into whether Ralph was Elsies son although the probability is that he is.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks very much for the superfast response. It looks like you've found her. I've just got access to the 1920/30 censuses so I'll have a look. I've only recently found that she moved to the US and am still finding my way around US records.
I have noticed that there don't appear to be any birth records online. Is this to do with privacy laws in the US or are there any online records?

ps I've just realised that I listed her 2nd marriage as Fort Fairchild instead of Fort Fairfield.

United States of America / Relatives of Elsie Maud Burge/Nickerson/Dougherty
« on: Sunday 21 June 09 13:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
I'm hoping that someone may have come across my Great Aunt Elsie Maud Burge b.1889 Portsmouth, Hampshire, England or some of her relations, or information about them.
She crossed into the US at Port of Winnipeg in 1914 with her destination stated as Fort Fairfield, Maine.
I have found her marriage to William H Nickerson in Fort Fairchild, 1915 and she appeared in the 1920 US census as divorced. In 1921 she married John R Dougherty in Fort Fairchild and died in 1961. She apparently had children as I have some photos of her and her grandsons Edwin and Charles.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Andy

US Lookup Requests / Re: 1920 & 1930 US census lookup please

Hi Anna,
Someone checked 1910 for me and was unable to find them, but I think that was before I got the 1900 info. In light of the family using nicknames and derivatives of their full given names they may be easier to find, so if you come across them, the info would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Lisa,
Its a possibility I had'nt considered, but in light of them not being found in the US easily, I shall have to look into that.
Thanks for your time and effort.

Many thanks for your time and effort. Probably the girls have married and moved on by this time.
As for Benjamin Francis(Frank), I suppose he could have moved to another State or even have died. I'm going to try coming at this branch of the family from another angle and see if I can find other UK relatives in the hope that they may have some info.
Thanks again.
Andy
