Argyllshire / re Alexander McLachlan
« on: Saturday 07 April 12 06:15 BST (UK)  »
Looking for the birth of Alexander McLachlan born on   Kilchoman Islay in 1788 I think . Ive have heard his parents were Peter  and Mary but can see no sign of his birth I gather he had brothers or half brothers , Hugh , Lachlan ,Duncan born after him ,and perhaps more . He left Islay with his son Patrick and settled in Northern Ireland where he remarried a Rose Irwin and they had a large family. I think he may have left the island under a cloud , but it is hard to find out much information. I am descended from Alexanders family in Bushmills Co antrim.

Hi,
I read with interest about the kiddle family from St Ives, My husband family are connected to this family. Going back further a harriet Kiddle born 1807married a Edward Bailey and emigrated with their family to New Zealand. During WW1 his grandfather William , his Uncle Wallace, and his father Len stayed with norah Kiddles family while on Leave.Norah and her sister Winnie wrote to their sisters in New Zealand and I have copys of these Letters.Robert Kiddle died in 1916 aged 23 in France, George enlisted at 14 and served 8 Months, Charles enlisted at 17 and suffered Shell Shock in Gallipoli, vincent enlisted at 16 and was gassed in France I Have a photo of this family which I will try to Post   carol Dawn

Hi,
No I havent any Rachel Todds in my tree but it looks as if she could be a sister of Johns, as it it is the same area. I have recently visited Northern Ireland and visited the Church at Billy .This is the church that johns daughter Sophia Elizabeth todd married robert McCaw  in the 1900s , then they went to live in Canada .
