Technical Help / Re: FindMyPast and MAC computer
« on: Friday 21 August 15 23:14 BST (UK)  »
Was having the same problem using my iMac and got this back from FindMyPast.  Because unsure what changing browser to Google Chrome from Safari would do to my other programs, decided to just use my Acer laptop  with Google Chrome, and can access the records now.

Dear Frank

Thank you for your email.

I am  sorry to hear that you have been experiencing an issue with the website.

We do suggest that, where possible, members should download the latest versions of any  browser  - it's free to do this and takes just a few minutes.

Below is a list of links to various browser update sites.

I hope this will help but do please contact us again should the problem persist even after changing from the original browser.

Thanks for your reply.  Had found that site but was unsure if the William W Hall they list is the same WW Hall as they show no location.  Thought maybe someone here might have come across WW Hall in the past and would know his years of operation.

Looking for information on WW Hall, 57 Shields Rd., Heaton, Newcastle-on-Tyne.  Think operated mid to late 1800's.  Could find nothing when tried Googling name, address and/or location.
Thanks for any information you may be able to provide.

Would be interested in what other information you have on Thomas Wilson. He is my 4th grt grandfather on my maternal side.  Born abt 1767 Derbyshire, Leicestershire married Elizabeth Evans[1778-1851] 11 Oct 1801 and died 29 Dec 1840 at Worthington Field, Breedon on the Hill, Derbyshire, Leicestershire.  His GRO death cert showed him as a Late Publican, present at death Mary Wilson, daughter.
Children William 1802-1814, Thomas 1804-1877, Elizabeth* 1807-1870[married George Proudman* 19 July 1835], John 1809-1884, Jane 1814-1895, Mary 1816-1905, William 1818-1884.
Presume his father was William as 2 sons called William.  [* = maternal connection]
Have never found anything on his birth so would be interested if you have uncovered any other information about his parents.

Thank you

Hi Sue

Checking my archived Rootschat messages we "talked" in 2010 and you kindly provided information on Elizabeth Wilson's parentage.  Have never found anything definitive on Thomas Wilson's parents but did find a list of legal transactions on The National Archive site mentioning George & John Proudman, their Bingham connection and one for Thomas Wilson with reference the Coleorton Pottery.  Might have sent it on to the email address you supplied me at that time.  Thank you for the tip on the potteries history by Samuel Stewart.  Will see if a copy can be found.

Hello

I have a Thomas Wilson 1767-1840 married Elizabeth Evans 1778-1861 in my maternal line.  Their daughter Elizabeth 1807-1870 married George Proudman who was involved with a pottery business in Coleorton.  Is this the Thomas  Wilson you refer to in your family?

Here is a site you might find interesting http://www.vpl.ca/bccd/index.php.  B.C. City Directories 1860-1955.  You select a year, then search Wrigley's or Henderson's directories for B.C. or Vancouver Island towns.  Business and residents are listed alphabetically, showing occupation and address.  Think an h after name means homeowner and r means renter.  Also some old adds.

Thank you very much for posting the access link to your Coldingham one-place study.  My 3x grt grandparents were married in Coldingham in 1832 after an irregular marriage at Lamberton Toll in 1831.  My 4x grt grandfather was shown as a shepherd at Brockholes on that wedding certificate.  Your Index of Witnesses shows 3 possible relatives of mine.  Is this information on a CD and is it possible to purchase from you the complete record of what the people in your Index were witness to?  My wife also has found many references to her Coldingham relatives from your Index.

Thank you.
