Hi,

Thanks for the info, i may send of for the death cert for Peter.  Funny there is no birth registered for John Joseph, especially as Georges' was registered.

I will try and work on the info you have sent and see what comes from that.

It doesn't help that they keep changing the spelling of the name.

Thanks

Chris

HI,

I have been on csc website before, and couldn't find Peter.    He was my 2nd great grandfather.  The records are all a bit  unclear.
He definitely married Jane Rigby in 1857, they were on the 1861 census.  It was thought he married a Charlotte Crowen in 1866, but on getting the marriage cert, I am sure its not the same guy, as his father is stated as Peter, and he has classed himself a bachelor.   So therefore no definite records of Peter after 1861.

I was hoping that I could go look at the parish records myself, so will have to dig a bit more as to how to do that.

Thanks

Chris

Hi,

Is there anywhere I can go to look up a birth.

I am looking for Peter Asprey, he was born Lymm in 1832/33.  His parents were George Asprey and I believe Ann Hanforth.

Any help gratefully received.

Other Countries / Kew or BL for Indian records?
« on: Saturday 25 February 12 00:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I will be going to London next month, and want to do some research whilst there, don't have time for both, but would really like to find out some info on my great grandfather, the info I have is:-

John Patrick Nolan, born 14 Sept 1866 (place unknown,) served in 2nd KOYLI,
PAYMENT RECORDS taken from Warrant Officers Book - from BL records
April 1900 (Officiating Sub-Conductor) Date of Rank 29 Dec 1899 Bombay
1904 (Sub-Conductor) Date of Rank 7 Sep 1901 Madras
1908 (Conductor) Date of Rank 27 Dec 1905 Bombay
1909 (Conductor) Quetta
Army list for 1908 – conductor in Quetta
He married Jane Ismenia Griffiths on 11th Oct 1893, at St Patricks Church Poona, his age was give as 27 and his occupation as sergeant with 2 KOYLI,  they had  6 children:-
Francis Patrick Hilliam (William) Nolan Birth 24 Jul 1894 in Poona
Agnes Elizabeth Ann Nolan Birth 26 Jul 1896 in Quetta
Mary Maud Nolan Birth 26 Jul 1896 in Quetta
Cecelia Florence Margaret Nolan Birth 02 Mar 1898 in Quetta (my grandmother)
John Stephen Nolan Birth 17 Aug 1904 in India
William Ernest Nolan Birth 5 Jul 1909 in Quetta
I think Francis died in India, and Jane must have been pregnant when JP died.
The family returned to UK after JP’s death, by 1911, as they are on that years census, living with her parents in Manchester.
On Cecelias’ birth cert JP is listed as a store sargeant, and his army number is given as 1597.
He died in Quetta 5th March 1909,
At some stage he moved to the "Indian Army" but not too sure.
I would be interested to find out where he was born, were he joined up, his parents, and how he died.

Where would my time be best spent.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Chris
