In the book "John Halifax, Gentleman", Halifax lived with Abel Fletcher.  The latter's house is usually depicted as the Bell Hotel which stands on Church St, opposite the Abbey.

The explains the context of "staying there" in the message on the card.

Could it be an approximation to Solderer? (sticking things together with molten metal using a soldering iron)

Allied occupations could be Tinsmith, Whitesmith and such things.

The only pub I'm aware of on Bardy Lane was the Manx Arms, as shown on this OS map of the late 19th century.  I believe it was No.4

There was a burial of an Elizabeth JONES (38) on 23 Jan 1829 at St Nicholas.

It's in a spreadsheet I downloaded from some (forgotten) place. :(
