Hi Morag,
Very pleased to hear from you.  James & Jean would be by 3 x grand parents.  I am descended via Thomas 1784, Robert 1834, William 1877 & John 1909 all of which are recent discoveries.  Did you celebrate a special occasion in Egypt last year? - if so we have a common researcher   If you are on Ancestry I would willingly send you my email address so that we can communicate outside of this forum. My member name at Ancestry is oldboar where you could message me if you would like to.
Kind regards
John

Happy New Year Tessone,
I hope you are still monitoring this post.
I believe that James McGenley would be my 3rd great grandfather and I am wondering if you have any information of the family line that you would care to share with me.   I am willing to reciprocate by giving access to my tree on Ancestry.
Thanks in anticipation.

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Re: Birth record look up Salisbury - YOUNG
« on: Thursday 11 November 10 15:15 GMT (UK)  »
:)Thanks for all the information Pam.  Some confirms my own research.    I am assuming that Samuel added his wife's surname YOUNG to his and became Samuel Tucker Young although I have a copy of his death certificate in 1874 which gives his name as Samuel YOUNG.  Thanks for the info on the marriage and I will now get a certificate and see if it sheds any light.  Boys could get married as young as 14 in the 1850s so I guess that permission may have been withheld until he was 21.
Kind regards

John

Hi,  I would be very grateful if someone could please look up the birth record of William YOUNG born in Salisbury (St Thomas ) 1852/3.  Father was Samuel Young or Samuel Tucker or Samuel Tucker Young and mother Mary Ann ????? (possibly TUCKER).
Thanks very much in anticipation.

Hi Jenny,
I have traced my Spiers roots back to Stockbridge commencing with Henry Spiers (b1799) who later moved to Alresford where the family remained until early 1900s.
Our Spiers tree is on Ancestry if you want to have a look.
If there is any connection please let me know.
John

That was exceptionally quick guys.  Thanks very much.    In my ignorance, I came across an entry on 15/12/1799 for Henery Basborn son of Jenny Spires but thought Basborn was a second christian name and not a substitute for bastard.  Well you live and learn!     Not sure whether this is the right one or not but will try and pursue it further.    Can you tell me where you found the marriage information as I could not trace it and I would now like to get a copy of the marriage certificate.
Thanks again.

PS-off on holiday first thing tomorrow so wont be able to communicate for a while.

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / SPIERS of Hampshire

Does anyone by chance have any information of the Spiers family in Hampshire.  I am particularly interested in Henry Spiers born about 1800 in Stockbridge who later moved to New Alresford.   Henry married Sarah probably around 1825 but I have been unable to find any marriage or birth records.  I have been to the Hampshire Family Records office in Winchester but could only find death and will records.  I have managed to get most of Henry & Sarah's decendents records but it would be really great if I could get back further.

Thanks in anticipation ;D
