I have a immigrating image of a Grandmother and 20 known descendants of hers consisting of 2 sons, their wives and their children.
Her age is shown as 10 years younger, all the others are about right.

Age records on shipping documents are sometimes the same as 1841 English census ages, a few years over or under.

Thanks shellyesq,

I did check FindaGrave a couple of days ago and saw this Richard died 1882 and a Mary Henson died 1888 in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
Couldn't confirm that they are a couple and that they are buried in the same grave location

Anything more of Mary Henson died 1888.

I tried searching for them and the daughters 1900 Census, might try 1910+ for the daughters.

What is the source for the Philadelphia city directory?

Mick

1881 Philadelphia city directory
Henson, Richard, patternmaker, home 1821 Wharton

1882 Philadelphia city directory
Henson, Richard, patternmaker, home 808 Cherry

I don't see any likely match for the family in 1883, so I wonder if this is Richard.

Burial in September 1882 - https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/207255619/richard-henson

This almshouse record has the name transcribed as Henser, but it looks more like Hensen to me.  It has this Richard as born in England and died at age 42.  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VKD9-CXP?lang=en

Another death record is transcribed as Heuser, but has the same age/place of birth as the almshouse record and also mentions that he's married & a pattern maker.  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JK3G-X3F?lang=en

It is what happened to the Lancashire Henson's after the Pennsylvania 1880 census that I'm interested in.

I've been researching my Henson's in Lorain County, Ohio for the past couple of weeks.
About 21 of them emigrated in 1852 on the same ship.
My connection to these Henson's in Lorain County, Ohio is John Haddon and Avis Cooke of Naseby, Northamptonshire, England.

Problem 1 - people don't research properly

Problem 2 - they put their incorrect tree online

Problem 3 -  others  just copy it without checking & before you know it you have multiple trees all with wrong info.  Which is the case with the Henson tree.

A few weeks ago I saw a tree that showed 2 children in the same family baptised several years before they were born.  Another tree had a death for an adult male a year before his marriage.  Bet his bride got a shock at the altar😂

Thanks CaroleW,

I have contacted this Ancestry tree owner.

There are another 4 to 7 Ancestry trees (3 are private) that have the same "incorrect info"

Exactly.  As you say - somebody's  tree has incorrect info.  Have you contacted the tree owner?

Here's the link to a "wrong 'un"

The Henson's in Lorain County, Ohio, United States aren't the same Henson's that were in Pennsylvania 1880 census.

Thanks CaroleW,

The 2nd link is a different family that they have been merged with on several Ancestry trees.
This family immigrated 1852 via New York to Ohio.

GRO online shows a son William b Sept qtr 1871 Salford died same qtr mmn Baird

The second link above shows Richards birthplace as Northamptonshire??

As family were in England until late 1871 - how could Richard have married in the US in 1868??

Family is recorded on Familysearch.
https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/details/MDRF-L6P

Father is Richard Henson born abt. 1841 Colsterworth, Lincolnshire, England
Mother is Mary Baird born abt. 1847 Hulme, Lancashire, England
They married 5 January 1865 Manchester Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire, England

Daughter Mary Helen aka May Ellen born 1866 Hulme, Lancashire, England
Daughter Charlotte Eliza born 1868 Salford, Lancashire, England

1871 Census they are at Salford, Lancashire, England

1880 census they are at Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States

My interest in this family is that they have been merged with relatives of mine on several Ancestry trees.
