Hi Osprey

That goes a long way to explaining why and where they might be at these times, including the trip to South Africa in 1949.  This is so much easier than the the ag. labs. in my direct family who didn't leave this sort of detail!

As well as missing a birth record for Constance, I don't see one for a marriage or the birth of Conrad W. b. 1922 either?
Henry Julius was interned at Ruhleben in Germany from 1914-1915, quite possibly he married Wilhemine and his children were born overseas.

You replied while I was typing and confirmed the marriage - thanks!

I had initially confused him with another Henry J who married Daisy Day (lovely name!) in Lambeth about the same time.

Thank you Osprey! I am still puzzled about the lack of a birth record, but the full marriage record establishes her parents and that Aelfrida Tillyard was indeed her aunt. I wonder if she was born outside the UK? I know she had some sort of connection to Germany. I don't have any subscriptions at present, but the 1939 Register should confirm her place of birth.

Thanks Amondg - Constance L was a different person.

Thanks, actually I made a mistake in my post: she married in Cambridge in 1950, rather than being born there. I can't find any birth record and would like to know who her parents were. She had an aunt in Cambridge who have two brothers, but I can't link them to her or work out the family connection.

Hi, I'm looking for Constance Tillyard, born in Cambridge 1924, but possibly at school and living in or around Cardiff as a teenager? Any help welcome, Thanks!

A relative named Marjorie married a chap named Alfred Butter; I've always wondered whether she called herself Marge Butter...

Moderator comment: topic closed;  the pitfalls of unfortunate names have been amply demonstrated.......

The Lighter Side / Re: Borley Rectory

Some years ago, I'd been enjoying some refreshment with a friend, and when closing time came around we felt that the night was still young, but were at something of a loss as to what to do with it. He'd mentioned a psychic research group he'd recently been to, and as they had been discussing the place suggested we drive to Borley, not too far away. Of course we had to do it, and when we arrived, tiptoed up the path to the church porch, where we were a little surprised to find a dark figure secreted in a corner. As our eyes got used to the darkness and our ears adjusted to the sounds of the night, we realised that the place was crawling - sometimes literally - with people with cameras, making recordings, measuring electrical forces or setting up tripwires. The church was quite possibly busier at the dead of night than at the Sunday morning service. Sadly, we didn't experience any unexplained phenomena.
