Offaly (Kings) / Re: Dailey - Offaly Kenney - Laois
« on: Tuesday 10 July 12 12:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi - I realize this post is quite old but here goes.
I have a John Daly born in Offaly around 1810.  He immigrated around 1848 and married Elizabeth Dudley. They settled in Poultney, VT.  Their only son William Daly married Mary Kenney.  The Kenney's were originally from either Laois or Offaly.

I don't know of a Peter Dailey but its possible that the spelling got changed somewhere along the way as I have seen the Daly name spelt various ways.

Hi
I have a Bridget Brophy - I know she was born in Laois County around 1837.  She married John Conroy in Clonaslee in Feb 1857.  I don't know any of Bridget's siblings or parent's names.  Perhaps there is a connection with your Margaret.  The youngest daughter of John and Bridget was named Margaret.  She was born in 1876 and immigrated to NY.

There are 2 Luke Daly's in the Clonaslee area.
Lukes brother Patrick was married to Catherine Nolan (sometimes spelled Nowlan).
The Conroy name is very common in that area and there were several families - Im sure they were somehow all related.

Hi
My Daly family is from clonaslee.  Luke Daly was married to Anne Williams and his brother Patrick Daly was married to Catherine Nolan.  Luke's son Thomas married Honora Conroy.  Honora was the daughter of John Conroy and Bridget Brophy.  Do any of these names ring a bell??

« on: Friday 04 February 11 14:38 GMT (UK)  »
My James Crowley was born approx 1810 in Cork Ireland.  He was a farmer and immigrated to the US around 1840.  He married Hannah Fenton in Massachusettes and they had 2 children there - Mary and Daniel born 1846 and 1849.  They then bought a farm in Altona NY and had the following children:  Dennis, Johanna, Ellen, John and James.  John was my great grandfather - would love to find out more about the Fenton's and Crowley's

Limerick / Re: Legier
« on: Friday 04 February 11 14:24 GMT (UK)  »
Believe George's wife was Nancy Shrowd - know she had a sister Bridget.  Can't find any records of Shrowd's from Limerick so not sure where she is from.
Also believe George had brother's Adam, John and possibly Jacob.  One of Jacob's sons ended up in Vermont.  George and John were in Clinton County NY.  Adam was originally in Altona, NY but appears that he moved to Minnesota.  Hope someone knows more info about these folks!!

Hi Janet
I just came across your posting and I'm afraid I don't have any direct help for you.  But the names in your posting are very familiar to me.  I am descended from Daly's that were originally from Offaly and at least some of them went to Clonaslee - Queens County.  I have seen the spelling of the last name Daly, Daley, Daily.  One of the Daly's - John came to the United States and his son William (b. 1854) married a Mary Kenney - Mary was the daughter of Patrick Kenney.  Anyway I doubt any of this helps you but like I said the names are so similar.
P.S. John born approx. 1811 had many brothers but no Peter that I know of.

Hi
My great grandmother had a brother James born in Clonaslee but he was born around 1873 - he died in 1932 in New York.  I know he married and had a child but I don't know there names.   Yes please find out siblings names and we'll see if there is a connection.

Laois (Queens) / Daly's from Clonaslee Ireland
« on: Friday 09 July 10 22:18 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find information on the following siblings:  Luke Daly (born approx. 1810) married to Anne Williams.  Luke had a brother John who was born in 1811 and died in 1901 in Poultney, Vt.  They had a sister Catherine who married Patrick Delehanty.  I believe Catherine and Patrick immigrated with their daughters Anne (Dunn) and Catherine (Bree), but do not know what happened to Catherine or Patrick.  Sister Bridget (Dunn) born 1816 died in Poultney VT in 1906.  Believe their are 3 other siblings:  Thomas, Patrick and Marcus.  Believe Patrick married Catherine Nolan and have some info on him and children.  No info on Thomas or Marcus.

Believe there to be 2 Luke Daly's both married to Anne's about the same age in Clonaslee.  Makes things even more confusing.  Any info would be appreciated.  Especially if anyone knows the names of Luke, et alls parents.
