I'd love to find out some more about the Yeates family of Islandmagee before 1813. They are buried in Ballypriomore Graveyard.

The earliest record I can find is birth of Gilbert Yeates 1st December 1813 in Islandmagee (from his Master Mariner certificate).

I suspect his father was Robert Yeates, based on them sitting close together from 1st Presbytarian Islandmagee church pew records, who was born around about 1787.

The online records sadly don't stretch back much before the 1840's, so could any anyone help me find whether Robert was born there, and how the Yeates's came to be farmers, boatbuilders and mariners on IslandMagee?

Kind regards,

Wiliam Yeates

I think his father was Robert Yeates (married sarah templeton)
I'm pretty sure his Grandfather was Robert Yeates, who also married a Sarah, is my 4x great grandfather, Born 1878 somewhere near Larne, Antrim (I think).
